Has anyone done one of the Team Livestrong challenge rides?

Looks like a cool event, but I have never done any kind of cycling event. Thoughts?

I would love to but I hate fundraising.

I did the Davis Liverstrong last year. It is pretty well organized with tons of support throughout the ride. I think I would do it again this year.

Thanks. That's the one I'm looking at.
  • I did the Philly LiveStrong Century in 2010. It was my first century and I doubt another will top it. It was an amazing experience riding with cancer survivors and supporters. It was also really well supported. I didn't find the fundraising all that tough and the organization gives you lots of ideas. Plus there are some nice prizes if you reach certain levels of fundraising.

Nice! The Davis ride is pretty much a good century for a first timer. First 30 miles is flat and a good warmup for the hills. Theres steep hills but not a crazy amount of elevation gain. I would said the ride is 70% flat and 30% hills. There was tons of food and fruits at the break areas. There was even an ice bath if you really needed it- 90 degree weather during the summer in Davis.

It was well supported...I mean many minivans driving around to see if you needed water or mechanical help. My buddy tore his tire 30 miles in and they gave him a brand new tire to finish the ride. There was a good amount of people cheering throughout the course which was pretty cool. There is also like a small festival the day before and afterwards giving out tons of free stuff from gel packs to granola bars.
