Why am I just now seeing a preview for this movie? What do you think - is it going to be good? Looks good to me! (But yeah, Johnny Depp, of course it looks good to me)

I adored the mid-90's tv version so of course I'll have to see it. Besides, it's Tim Burton. Awesomesauce.

Silly trivia learned in HS - the author of the Dark Shadows book(s) was from my home town...

I used to be addicted the original show from the 60s. Syfy played it around the late 90s from 11 am to noon. I would srsly skip school to watch this show, that's how into it I was.

I have been looking forward to this movie since it was in talks a few years ago. I was a bit taken back by the trailer. I wasn't aware it was a comedy. I was very surprised and maybe a but disappointed. I still want to love it though.

Did the guy who did Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and Pride Prejudice and Zombies have a hand in this? Thought I saw his name in the trailer... ???

My former roomie is all pissy about it. Says it's not really "Dark Shadows." It was a soap opera. Campy horror! Silly is not far from campy.

I never saw the original so I have no opinion about that. I just saw Tim Burton and Johnny Depp and was

The original series was "campy horror" but it ran for an ungodly number of episodes (from 1966 into the '70s). I actually started watching it over the Christmas break. It's not bad, it's got a little bit of everything, but it won't draw you in as much as newer shows (e.g. Supernatural) because the video quality is definitely '60s. I think the whole series is on Netflix.

I'm in the minority...I was super excited before I saw the trailer, and then I was excited by the first half of the trailer, but then it just looked sort of lame... Like Dark Shadows meets either the Brady Bunch movie remakes they did 15 or so years ago, or the Scooby Doo movies with Sarah Michelle Gellar...not my idea of a good time.
