I still would prefer MFP anyday.
^^^ this :drinker:
I tried e-harmony and the slow pace of it all was exasperating... not that I'm looking to dive right into something, but sheesh, if ya can't even meet, well, what's the point.
Tried match and had a long term relationship that ended last year. So, I would say that was okay.
Recently, gave Zoosk a shot, and really liking the focus on meeting people in my area face to face... sure, you have to use much of your own selective process and rely on some gut instinct, but I have met some of the funnest dates (even if they were not the "one") and it really helped me get back into the dating groove.
Just depends on what someone is looking for at the moment, I suppose.
Meanwhile, some of what MFP has to offer is unparalleled0 -

yeah... if it would ever actually materialize, lol!0 -
I've met some great guys on OKC... it's not a magic pill, but it has possibilities. Also, it's better than any of the other free sites I've been on.0

If anyone has not been on it lately POF has become a pay site for certain features.
Same with OKC...but those features are mostly unnecessary, I think. Hmm..
The thing I found that annoyed me was if someone looked at your profile you can not see theirs without paying now.
That only lasted a few days..........I can use "viewed me" now, and I don't pay
I can see who viewed me but it won`t take me to their profile without upgrading (paying).
Carl,
I was playing around on PoF this morning and think I figured out the problem. If you are on the 'who viewed me' page, you need to click on the person's image to go to their profile. If you click on the word "show" under the photo it takes you to the payment page.0 -
eHarmony must have found out I was cheating on it with POF as I got 4 matches and one sent me an icebreaker. I haven't checked them yet as I can't access it at work. I just know because I can check email on my phone.0

I got an icebreaker this morning too.0

I just joined eharmony yesterday... Now after reading all this, I'm disappointed
Oh well, I'll give it three months and see what happens...
What is OKC?0 -

Haha, that figures!
I have to say I'm already kind of impressed with PoF. Shocked I'm even saying that but just this morning I already had 2 good email exchanges and 1 that was halfway decent. Haven't had that much action on eharmony in 2 months!0 -
I've been on it for a couple of months. I'm not crazy about it, but it's okay. My biggest gripe is that so many guys just don't respond. I'd rather they move me to "archived" than sit around taking up space in my matches with "waiting for his response." There was one guy I was talking to for a while through eH. We had a fantastic connection and we both felt it very strongly. Turned out he was talking to another girl at the same time (one he met through real life experience) and ended up pursuing her instead. We're still friends though... well, so to speak. I haven't been on eH much lately because I'm seeing someone new. We, too, met through eH. It's not a relationship yet, but our next date (and I guarantee that there will be one) will be date number five. I'd say that's a pretty good indication that things are going well.
In short, I'm not amazed by it. I haven't met tons of guys, but the guys I have met I've had a good connection with and really I think that's more important than numbers.0 -
the main problem with chemistry and eharm (i did chem and a good friend did eharm) is that they will send you people who arent members as your matches. by that i mean either people who havent paid and just filled out the free profile OR (and this is worse) fake profiles. it was curious that we got the fake profiles when it was close to the time to renew.
with that said, i did meet my last bf from chem, but it took a lot of weeding to get through to him. when we first got to the personal contact stage we were both like "OMG i'm so glad you're a real person", so it sounds like they do those bait and switch things with the fellas too0 -
garrg waste of my time and money, i never get through the final hoops, I guess I must be a minger as I get no luck! canceling it soon!0

Update...last night my friend created an eHarmony account, and for grins I created one too (didn't pay). She immediately got a slew of seemingly possible matches. I got a bunch of old guys whose profiles tell me clearly why they're still single. She's gonna go ahead and pay for it. My social schedule is thinner than I'd like, but still full enough that I'm not gonna bother. We'll see what happens.0

They should seriously remove people who don't login for a month or don't pay. Maybe if we all email them, they'll change it!0 -

good luck (to both of you)!0 -
Plenty of Fish tried to charge to see who viewed your profile and it seems decided against it, as it is normal now.
OkCupid has premium features that are nothing to right home about.
The thing about free dating sites is, you get what you pay for.
As I said in the other thread, I've a grudge against eHarmony, it's rejected me a few times. It never really tells you why. I went back a third time, and just adjusted how far I was willing to look and the like, and it gave me a few matches.
There is an article in a recent Men's Health about dating sites. Basically a guy and his wife went through all the dating sites that supposedly match you based on criteria. Even though they were strong matches on some, they were never suggested for each other. On other sites, they weren't such strong matches.0
