I'm planning to join derby next year and was wondering where everyone gets their gear. I'm just looking for beginner gear right now and trying to find stuff as cheap as possible for now and upgrade later. I was wondering if anyone has some great places they find stuff for cheap.

Thanks! :drinker:

I just started in January and found that i got a pretty good package deal from http://www.rollergirlskates.com/
Everything i bought came pretty quick within a week or less i had all my equipment and was ready to go. I got the rebel rookie package that came with the skates, pads, mouth guard, tools, helmet...pretty much everything you need to start with. The wheels aren't quite the best but they work for starters. I did end up buying a new pair of wheels because i needed something that would let me move faster. I went through about 10 different sites and this was the one i kept coming back to, they seemed to have the best rookie package deal!

    There is also http://www.rollerderbydepot.com/rookie_packages.html
they have a lot of packages

my team seems to use this site a lot!

there is also this one...i bought my wheels from here and they do have one package deal.

    Hope these help!

There's a lot of places to get gear online, but also check with the girls in the league you plan to join. A lot of times people will sell you their gear when they upgrade. Also, you can get cheaper skates, like the R3s, but you will need to upgrade the wheels shortly. Also, don't waste money on cheap kneepads, as you will definitely want to get good ones and will have to buy them twice. The other stuff is not quite as important in the beginning.

Living in Seattle, i got a few things from Fastgirl skates, but from other derby forums I've been on, the skating-supply websites can be very competitive if you call them and ask if they can do better than so-and-so.com
I got my suregrip V-drive wheels at lowpriceskates.com
and when it came to bearings, my guy and I both skate and because we were getting some for both of us, the local ma-n-pop skate shop cut us a deal ^.^

I love Bruised Boutique... and not just because I am 10 minutes away.

I have also worked with Sin City (http://www.sincityskates.com/).
The ladies who run this shop really know their gear and are very helpful.

If you can, be sure you try skates on (maybe a friend has some ion the right size if there are no shops near you) so you know for sure you have the right fit.

I love derbysupply.net. They're incredibly knowledgeable and easy to work with. I swear there's nothing involving derby gear they can't figure out. I also love that it's more important to them to make sure they're getting you the right equipment for you and how you skate versus the equipment that will make them the most money.
