I'm looking for a phone app I can start and have it track my rides. Anybody got one they love, and is easy. Cheap & easy is best, but I know sometimes you have to pay to play.
Particularly distance and elevation...

I currently use iSmoothRun ($1.99) as an upgrade to RunKeeper free. RK keep dropping out and the new auto-pause didn't work very well. I read on the forums that the iSR was much better. It is, as it doesn't drop as much, has cadence, and elevation, AND it automatically posts to RunKeeper if you want, but it's still not perfect.
My boyfriend is getting me a Garmin 305 Forerunner for my birthday. Can't wait!0 -
ENDOMONDO!
http://www.endomondo.com
I used this app for about a year before I finally got myself a Garmin. They all do the same at the end of the day but I found Endo to be reliable, easy to use and easy on my phone battery! Also the statistics page on the website is really good, the app automatically uploads your workouts, then when you login to the website you can look at statistics like, elevation profiles, maps, heart rate (if you have the sensor) and loads of other stuff. There are free and paid for versions so you use it for free if you want.
I tracked over 2000 miles last year using it and I really can't sing it's praises enough!
Happy searching!0 -
Garmin Fit, it has most of the same features as a Garmin. It will map, give speed and elevation. It will also upload to Garmin Connect if you set up a free account. If using with an I-phone you can purchase an ANT device that plugs into the phone and allows you to use any of the Garmin devices, Heart Rate Monitor, Cadence Counter and foot pod. I have used it along with a Garmin Forerunner 610 and it is as accurate as the Garmin.0

I agree with what christophenes says above.
I use Endomondo for Droid and really like it. I also play with mapmyride, cant say I like it as much as Endomondo but I probably haven't given it enough time/effort. They both track well, elevation/time/speed/distance match well with my Garmin 705.
One complaint I have with mapmyride was that I could not end/save the ride without uploading the ride, not having unlimited data, I prefer to upload on wifi at home, Endo allows you to end/save and upload later.0 -
I use endomondo and really like it. I used to use mapmyride and I liked it too but it got to where if I paused the app and resumed it, the tracking (mileage, speed, pace, etc.) would not resume when I unpaused it. So it was just too unreliable. Give endomondo a try.0
