this probably applies more to the females but getting ready for a date you spend SO much time getting ready and making sure you look perfect and yet still want to come off to him that you didnt try so hard to get ready....is it just me or is that hiliorous??? (and yes I do that too)

Guys go through the same thing, but it manifests itself differently. Do you ladies know how difficult it can be, even to plan the simplest of dates? Yet I strive to make it look easy. I know that I put effort into what I look like for dates too.0

Yuppers.. before my dates I need about 1 1/2 hours.
I take a shower, shave, dance to wiggle out the nerves...
I blow dry my hair, curl it.. do my make up (not too much but just enough).
Perfume, then try on 2-3 outfits. Change shoes once or twice.
Have a bit of whiskey or wine and look in the mirror one more time.
Sometimes change again.
*sigh* (but I love it!)0 -
I'm probably the only person this isn't true for. I shower/shave, blow dry my hair (I never style my hair, just wear it down flat), and apply makeup that takes 3-4 minutes then I'm ready! I'm always twiddling my thumbs when my friends and I go to the bar because I'm waiting for them to finish up.0

Yep.... because guys want girls who are naturally beautiful w/o a whole lot of work. And women don't want men to know how much work they put into an evening out, so he won't think she's more into him than he is into her. Or at least that's what I was taught ;-)
I was in a store one day and heard a country song where this guy sang about how beautiful his girl was... how her hair fell naturally perfectly into place. I can't remember the lyrics, but basically she was gorgeous with no artificial effort. I've known women fitting this description, but they are VERY rare. The rest of us need a little product, a little styling, a little gloss. And some of us need a lot of work.
I think I'll go cull my counter-full of lotions, makeup, and hairspray now. :laugh:0 -
I think I need a crash course, this is clearly where I'm going wrong  . I'm a 15 minutes max gal.0

If I have time I always plan things out the night before. Pick out the outfit, straighten my hair (it always looks best day 2 straight), do a test run of the make up. So when it's the night I am actually going out it takes me maybe 10-15 mins to get ready. Then again I am pretty low maintence.0

tbh, once I know what I'm wearing I pretty much get ready in 15 mins too :smokin:
But yeah, I take more time deciding what to wear on dates. Not too smart, not too casual, not too tarty, not too tight, not too glitz, not too impressionable...........arghhh!!! I wonder if men even take any notice??? :noway:
PS Ladies, you need to epilate or wax, so you dont have to worry about fluff every time you go out! :laugh:0 -

This is pretty much me, too, and I also enjoy it. If I really like a guy and he's important to me, it does not feel like an effort. It's fun.0 -

Since my hair is short and naturally curly it usually only takes me about 40 min to get ready including a shower lol. I have this horrible habit of starting to get ready about 2 hours before I go out and the I end up sitting there twittling my thumbs cause I'm waiting on my sister(she takes 4 ever )0

This is me too!! Of course I am also the one who threw food on myself during my first date....0 -
I typically take way too long getting ready. But one of the better first dates I've had in a long time was an inpromtu meeting. We were chatting online and I said..."why are both sitting home on a Saturday night chatting online?" So we made plans to meet at a bar for a drink in 20 minutes...which only gave me time to freshen up and run out the door. Perfect because there was no time to get those jitters I usually get...no time to throw on 10 outfits to decide which one I wanted to wear. Of course that didn't stop the rush of nervous jitters I got in the car on the way there, but it ended up being a great night.0
