I just realized the meet up in Austin TX is just over a month away. I thought I would create a topic to discuss the logistics.

Who is going?
Where are you staying? (If you don't want to say the hotel how about the area.)
Who's willing to share a hotel room?
that kind of stuff.

I am planning on going but haven't gotten the hotel or flight yet. Anyone know what area of Austin I should look for a hotel? I am willing to share a hotel room with another female to split the cost. I am planning on flying in on 5/18 and out on 5/20.

I'm still planning on coming if I can swing being in Houston the week before for work. I booked my room on town lake. It is a beautiful area in the center of town. But it is a little pricy.

I would love to meet up with y'all, but I will be flying back to Austin from a business trip on the 19th, so anything during the day is definitely out for me. I think my flight gets in around 6 PM, so I might be able to do something that night.

I would caution all of you that this particular weekend is graduation weekend at UT, so hotel rooms will be expensive and in short supply. If you're planning to come, you probably want to get on that ASAP.

Maybe this wasn't the best date to pick given how huge of a university UT is. UT is a big part of what Austin is.

Yeah I don't know if that was known at the time that the date was picked.

  • I havent been on the groups much lately... just saw this post. What is the agenda? I have family in Austin. So, a place to stay is no big deal for me but, I would like to know what the plans are and I will have to check my schedule. Not sure at the moment but may have a family event. Someone fill me in please...

I've only been there once (Minneapolis, last summer). I had a blast. I met a cute guy while I was there on a business trip. He asked me out twice. We even took a stroll through Loring Park. But, as he lives a whole country away, it was not meant to be. Anyway, the weather was amazing. The people were nice. And I discovered the most amazing gym I've ever seen anywhere (the fitness center at the Hyatt Regency). It was a great trip. Had it been in January instead of June, it might've been different. Regardless, I'd go back in a heartbeat if the timing worked out.

She doesn't like MN because a certain FL is from there and probably moving back.

Now not going to MN but still up in the air if I will be able to go as I don't know if I can afford the time off as after my other trips already planned for the year that leaves me with 13 days left of vacation time to fit in a cruise (for Christmas whole family going paying out of my grandfather's estate) and a trip to Europe.

I can't make that weekend after all, but would still be interested if something else is planned.
