I would like to use this discussion for everyone to introduce themselves, and tell their story and find some friends on here!
I'm Shannon, I'm 23, I created this group. I've been married since September of 2007 to my wonderful husband James, started dating in high school in April of 2006, so we are coming up on our 6 day dating anniversary! I work from home selling avon. I started selling avon in 2008 I believe, because I eventually would love to be a stay at home mom, but make some money to help out with bills and such. My husband is a lifeguard year round, unfortunately part time, but close to full time (they won't give him 40 hours a week other than during the summer, so they don't have to give him benefits and such, yeah stupid I know, and he's been working there for 7 years). He is also in the military and served one year in afghanistan. Because of his deployment, we were able to pay cash for a new home, a huge home (in our opinion, 2100 sq ft or so), that we bought in September of 2010. We now have a huge home to hold children! I was on birth control pills from April of 2007 until April of 2011. We decided to start trying to get pregnant in June of 2011. We have been trying ever since then and so far no luck, but I feel that I will be blessed with a child when it's my time.
As for my weight loss journey... I've been overweight since probably 6th grade all the way through 10th grade. I lost a lot of weight my 10th grade year and was around 130-140 from 11th grade, up until a few months before my wedding. At that point I started gaining weight pretty steadily for the next few years. I was my highest weight September of 2011, around 226 pounds, so I gained close to 100 pounds after high school. I've been working on a lifestyle change, NOT a diet and exercise regimen, since last september, and sinc then I've lost 46 pounds. I've hit my midway point and a month long plateau, but I hope to change that soon. I've still got quite a ways to go. Around 164 puts me in a healthy range, but I would love to be 150. If possible, I would love to be 140, but that may be pushing it too far. I guess we will see once we get to that point. Right now I'm around 180-185.
I would like to welcome you and I can't wait to get to know all of you and make some long time friends with the same goals.

Hello = )
Firstly thank you for making this group! I almost felt alone with TTC and loosing weight!
Okay here's a lil' about me;
I am 19 (20 next week), people may think it's really young to start trying, personally I have always wanted to have children in my early twenties - and to top it off my doctors advised me to ttc earlier on in life, because in future I have been told I will have to have an operation for my heart condition, which makes the possibility of children less likely = (
I've been with my boyfriend for almost 3 years now = D he is 20 (almost 21) has also has always planned on family life in his twenties too.
I live in the UK and I am currently at the end of my two year Art + Design Diploma. As of September I will be on a course which finally leads me on to my dream job - which is being a teacher's assistant in a primary school; preferably Reception and Key Stage One (that's about ages 3-8 I think).
Ttc-wise we have been trying since August 2011, and so far experienced 2 miscarriages - on in December and one in March = (
Weight-wise I feel it is time to make a change with my life, for the last four years I have let my eating habits slip. This mainly started in Sixth Form when we were allowed out of school grounds to go and buy food, and of course there was a bakery and a chip shop in walking distance! In college for the last two years there is also cheaper and unhealthier foods available, such as cheesey chips and cakes, which I have found myself taking a fancy to!
I found I went from a lovely size 10 all the way up to a horrific size 14! = | for my height (5"2) this does not look great haha!
I knew it was time to change a while ago but as of this week I have properly put it in to action!
Looking forwards to meeting peeps on here = ) xx0 -

Hi Seraaa! Glad to see you here. I also thought I was alone in ttc while trying to lose weight. It may not make sense to others, but it does to me. I'm trying to get pregnant, but while I'm waiting for it to happen, I don't see why I can't try and lose the weight so once I do conceive that I'm at least a little lighter!
And I'm very sorry about your miscarriages. I'm sure that's really hard, especially when you're trying so hard for a baby. I hope that never has to happen to you again.0 -
Hello
My name is Lourdes and I am 36 yrs old. I would also like to thank you for creating this group.
My hubby and I were married on 10/06/07 and have been ttc since then to absolutely no result . I have never taken any bc pills and was diagnosed about 3 years ago with PCOS. We have had many failed fertility treatments and had to stop them at the end of last year because it was making my BP skyrocket. I am currently trying acupuncture and taking metformin to treat PCOS.
I am 5'9 and at my highest weight I weighed 347lbs. In a year and 3 months I have lost over 90lbs. and I hope to lose more weight. My endo. told me last week that If I lose 60 more pounds I will be fertile on my own. While that excites me I have hit a plateau as well and the weight is just not moving
It makes me feel good to know that I am not alone as not being able to conceive for five years is very frustrating.0 -
Hello! I just joined MFP yesterday and since hubby and I would love to have a baby and I seriously need to lose weight (I have a little over 100 lbs to get to a healthy range) I thought this would be a good place to join.
I've pretty much been overweight my entire adult life and I've successfully lose weight before but not kept it off. I want to focus on being more active, eating more healthfully, and doing things in a way I can maintain for a lifetime. Especially because we would like to get pregnant doing things that will be healthy if we find out I am pregnant is important to me.0
