Getting back into Curves after a break

Hello curvalicious ones!

Have you ever had to take a break from Curves? How did you find it when you went back?

In June 2011 I'd been going for almost a year and was close to my 100th workout - free Tshirt ahoy! - when for medical reasons I had to stop (see profile for details). I quickly gained a stone and lost all my lovely muscle tone :-(

Last night I went back for my first try out since then. The trainers were fantastic, both cheering me on and making sure I didn't work too hard. It was fun but strange, feeling the difference in the familiar machines I was really aware of how weak and flabby I am now. About 20mins in I got dizzy and had to stop; I was expecting that but it was still disappointment. Later, in place of the usual post-workout buzz I felt sad and tearful. Eventually I had a wee blub then felt a lot better, but it was weird.

Today I'm achey and indecisive. I need to tell them asap if I want to reactivate my membership or suspend it for another month or two. I'm clearly not going to be able to do a full workout for a while yet, so is it worth it? Probably didn't help that I went after a full day at work though, that's knackering enough. There's another Curves nearer home I could maybe try on a visitor's pass on days off - does anyone here do that?

So yeah, bit confused here. That's the start of my Curves Returner's story. Would love to hear yours.

I don't know how much I could relate to your story since I just started at my local Curves but ever since I started working as a full time film editor 2 years ago I have completely cut out any form of sports and exercise - even climbing up the first floor to my office was a chore. I decided to be active and joined Curves and I started slow. The first week left me ache-y everywhere but the only way to do it is power through and since your trainers know about your medical condition, I don't think there's any problem if you wanna take it slow first and slowly work your way up.

I usually go in the morning before work since my Curves opens at 7:30am. I avoid going in the evenings after work because I know i'll be tired as hell. Ask your center if you can transfer to the Curves near your place so you can head there before you go on to work. Or find one that's near your workplace.

    Good luck! :D
