It's nice to feel that you're doing *something* to show them how much you want to support them and help them, isn't it? I'm running for my mum too - she has bowel cancer.0 -
I am a complete non runner (at the moment!) and am debating whether to sign up for my local race for life on July 1st. That gives me two months to get some semblance of running ability but I am not sure what to do!
Good luck everyone!0 -
If you're signing up for a 5 k, download the Couch 2 5k programme (stick it on your phone) and follow it. You have enough time if you get cracking now.0

Thanks meerkat!0

No prob. Let us know how you're getting on. You'll soon be addicted. :-)0

I will!0

I'm signed up now for 1st July in Leeds. I've managed to get some colleagues to join me so there will be 10 of us, should make fundraising easier and we can motivate each other. I will be running for my sister, who I lost 6 years ago aged just 42.0

A lot of you mentioned C25K - so how are you progressing? I have completed the 9 weeks and can do 5km in about 35 mins.
I amazed myself last week by taking my training outdoors for the first time (been on a treadmill until then) and achieved a faster time than I have done on a treadmill! Did a total of 4.5 miles but clocked myself at 5k and was sub 40 minutes, so setting my sights on 35 mins for the Race for Life in June0 -
Hi, I'm doing the clumber park, nottinghamshire race for life in July (will by my 3rd year). Also love the C25K app too. The best weight loss tool I bought is my treadmill in my bedroom, when my son is asleep I go on and watch the telly. Fab, it is easier than running outside, but the weather is shocking.0

I'm doing Aintree end of June, couldn't do the cheltenham one as I'm on holiday, so up to stay with the parents!0

I'm doing the Plymouth Central Park one all being well0

I ALWAYS run faster outdoors than a treadmill, it's so much easier for me too.0 -
I am doing the RFL on 20th May in Harlow, been training for a few weeks, but not a natural runner, not matter how hard I try. I have just managed to do 5km on the treadmill, but it's in the gym and all flat and my route has hills apparently.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I survive, but it's all for a good cause, as with most of you, I have a personal reason for doing this, as well as being community minded!
Best of luck to everyone doing the race, I hope you all have a fab time doing it.0 -
Try to get outdoors and run at least a few times in the 'real world' before your race. It will calm your nerves, and it's also *lots* more fun than running on the treadmill. Best of luck. A great cause, and a fab effort on your part.0

I am thinking of entering one on the 24th of June, is it too late to enter and start training?
I am not a runner but I can jog if I needed to! :laugh:0 -
I've done the Aberdeen 5K one for the last 2-3 years but unfortunately cannot make this years one. Good luck to anybody doing it this year. I'm sure you will all do great. :happy:0
