Hi everyone!!!
Thank you to everyone that participated in last weeks challenges. Please continue to grow the group and invite people you think would enjoy participating :)

This week, we have a couple week long challenges. Please respond to the post by stating how many days you think you will achieve each goal. Be honest... and if you beat it, all the better!!

Goal 1: Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and veggies a day. Easy for some, difficult for others. If this seems easy to you, up the servings.

Goal 2: Get a cardio work out in for at least 30 minutes. My goal is 5 days this week. What's yours?

Goal 3: Get a full 8 hours of sleep. This is probably the most difficult for any of us, as we have such busy schedules, but it's absolutely worth it!!

Just like last week, I will continue to post mini-challenges to encourage everyone to keep healthy
So, how do you think you will do??

Hardest one this week (as usual) is going to be the sleep piece since I have a lot of late nights with a grad paper due on Thursday and early mornings with work.

But I'm in it to win it! Good luck everyone... we got this! :drinker:

Goal one, I think I will be able to make 5 days. My lunches are the 6-7 servings on week days, giant salad.
Goal two, I think I will be able to make 4 days.
Goal three, I will try and get one day. I usually get about 7 hours. I don't see being able to get 8.

Keep in mind that for the 8 hours of sleep, that can include any naps that you might take. It doesn't have to be all at one time (though of course that is often considered optimal). Giving yourself adequate sleep reduces stress, gives you a break, etc.

If you can't sleep, one thing you should consider is meditation. Studies show that intense meditative states can be equally as rejuvenating and healing as sleep, but in a more concentrated way. That is, if you get 3 hours of meditation, it roughly equates to 6 hours of sleep. Mind you, this is DEEP meditation.

Also remember that though it doesn't have the same healing properties, laying down and just resting can have similar benefits to sleep.

The point of the challenge is to give yourself 100% break time for a portion of your day. If you can only get 6 hours, try to make up the other 2 hours in short rest breaks or meditation.

Okay let's see. Goal 1: As long as I can repeat at meals (i.e. two servings of cucumbers or something?), we're on task.

Goal 2: As long as things keep progressing, I'll have minimum of 4 days. I'd like 5 though.

Goal 3: Hrm, well since naps do count, I'm going to try my darndest!

I'm getting better at goal number one, at least with the veggie part. I've had 2 servings of fruit today and will have 4 servings of veggies at dinner. My goal is at least 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week. I have a stationary bike in the living room, so it should be easy. ;) Goal number three is a hard one for me too! I do usually nap with Bug during the day, if she takes one, so I get about 8-9 hours a sleep a day with naps. :)

    So, update.
Goal 1 - I did get my required veggies 5 days last week. (Weekends are a bit more laxed, but weekdays, I get over and above.)
Goal 2 - I got 5 days of cardio, 2 lax, and 3 fairly good days.
    Goal 3 - I think I got 3 days of 7 hours of sleep. I don't think I really got 8 any night.

Thanks for the challenge. Can't wait to see next week.
