what to eat... what to eat?

I am wondering if anyone has feedback on the % amount of carbs, protein and fat a person should have in their diet?
I've got family on the low carb/no carb diets that look at me like I'm crazy for eating bread and pasta. I try to stick to whole grain whenever possible. My current plan is set up for 188 grams of carbs, 51 grams of protein, and 46 grams of fat daily.
My goal is to gain strength (especially in my arms) and lean muscle; not really to loose weight.
I am currently on the P90X classic workout along with jogging 3 times a week.
Any suggestions on what to eat to increase lean muscle and strength?

thanks :)

  • Protein! :) Seriously, to gain mass women need to eat about .5-1.0 g of protein per lb per day. Seems like a lot but that's what muscle needs to grow. (you won't turn into a hulking beast either LOL)

I tell most of my training cliets to stick with about 30-40% carbs, 20-30% good fats and 30-40% protein. They all do really well with these ratios and it gives you a range to shoot for daily. In your MFP daily summary, you can even check out the %s in a pie chart (LOVE this feature!)
  • thank you!! I have bumped up my protein intake.
