Non-running Shoes?

Hi everyone!

New to group, running since August and loving it. I have recently started to have some knee/lower back pain that occurs only when I am not running. My running shoes do not bother me, however, I really think it is my everyday shoes that I need to adjust. As the weather has grown warmer, I am wearing some newer flip-flops and the pain started shortly thereafter. I was curious to know what you wear when not running (casual shoes..non professional).

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated--thanks!

I was told by a doctor that flip flops particularly flat ones are horrible for feet, legs, and back. He said to make sure shoes have at least a slight heel (not flats) to help support arch and protect your heel.

I've been told the same thing on flip flops (especially after having foot issues myself). if you want open shoes/sandles - I've been ok using sport sandles instead of flip flops since they do have added cushioning and support or flat sandles with ankle straps to avoid the slapping on the bottom of the feet.
