Baby about to start solids

Hi, I'm new here My baby will be six months old in a week and half and I'm getting ready to introduce him to solids. I've been exclusively breastfeeding him and decided to wait until he was 6 months old to start solids. Did anyone notice any weight gain or stall out trying to lose weight when your baby started solids? We call the baby "Greedy" because he still eats every 1.5-2 hours during the day and is likely over 20 lbs by now. I have friends whose kids still nursed all the time even after starting solids, so I don't know what to expect.
I exclusively pumped for my first, so when he started solids around 4 months it didn't change the amount of milk I made daily (which was a lot, I'm an overproducer). I did gain a few pounds after weaning from the pump when he was nearly a year old, despite significantly lowering my food intake... which is why I'm worried about the solids.
Any advice? Thanks!

Hi Youphemism,
I actually lost weight as soon as I started introducing formula and solids.... and from 9 months on when I weaned her completely the weight has dropped off a lot quicker than when I was exclusively breastfeeding.
This may give you some hope
Cheers

I did not actively try to loose weight with my older son, but once he was nursing less and less, I started to lose weight more quickly. Try not to worry!0

Thanks! Y'all have given me some hope! I actually find it hard to lose the last few pounds while breastfeeding - I've heard that your body will hold on to the fat stores just in case. Plus it makes me hungry! I don't want to risk my milk supply either. I will continue breastfeeding him as much as he wants during his first year of life so we'll see if solids slow him down or not!0

Mine turns 6 months on Friday but I introduced solids a few weeks ago (he was all grabby hands and ready). I can't tell if it's made a difference and I still get really hungry. Before babies I never go hungry. I'm still BF as introducing him to solids just really means letting him try new things out but not a full blown replacement. Anyway, the big difference for me is I wasn't watching what I ate before but now I am. I'm feeling nervous that I'm going to lose that nice little "calorie cushion" that is BF but then realize what really matters is that I eat right so for however long I continue to BF him, he gets the best possible nutrition. Just listen to your body and your baby!0

I have four kids, the youngest is going to be 7 months tomorrow. We have started offering baby food but so far he isn't that interested in it. My other kids took awhile to get to where they were eating a significant amount of baby food as well. I did notice that I started to gain weight when they were around a year old even though I was still nursing frequently. I assume that was because I didn't adjust my calorie intake when I no longer needed to produce as much milk.0
