First off... I've never had one of my threads locked! Second, I didn't know this even existed! I posted about Rape/Abortion earlier....

"nine times out of ten most women who are raped put them self in that situation. And if youre raped there is something called morning after pills?"

Just found this little gem on facebook... Such a heated dicussion going on. Just blows my mind that someone would say that. A woman on facebook said this... and continued to say that since women ask for rape, aborion should be illegal. The facebook post just got removed from the OP since it was 98 comments attacking one poster. Just blew my mind. I obviously don't agree with this. And I think it's a little bold to say something like that when you "think" you may know your friends... but most people don't really brag about getting raped or having abortions. Oh well.

You sure she wasn't looking for attention? Even negative attention gets some peoples rocks off, even when they are not truly of that opinion. They do it to be A-holes and amuse themselves. Surely a woman could not be that stupid.

People are insensitive and often forget all the mistakes they have made in their own life that could have easily ended badly for them. The statement that "9 out of 10 women put themselves in that situation to be raped" is insane because it's so vague. How did they do that. Dressing provacativley? Drinking too much? Not having a friend with them. I can sit here all day and list ways a woman can better avoid being raped, but the fact is no mistake, no matter how naive or ignorant, alleviates the accountablity of the rapist. Like I said ealier, if I am dumb and forget to lock my front door, it doesn't excuse the piece of crap that robs my house.

Whoever you know that posted that feel free to call them all sorts of awful names. They were really asking for it.

Though I will say that the morning after pill is a wonderful thing for women who've suffered such a trauma. Everyone can make their own choice, but I know that many women would not want to have a child as a result of a rape. The morning after pill allows a woman to avoid waiting to see if they are pregnant and then consider abortion. Big fan of that pill myself.

And finally, welcome to the group. Pick a fight and have at it!

I second the morning after pill. I would never spend the money on it after a night of unprotected sex, but if I were ever raped, I would definitely use this. Hopefully that never happens...

Everyone here knows my opinion on abortion. For non-religious reasons, I am pro-life. Heartbeat=life in my opinion. In the case of rape, I am ok....with it, but wish more women would choose the morning after pill, sadly, that's not always an option. I am 100% against abortion as birth control because someone CHOSE not to use protection of some sort.

As far as the facebook post. I have several idiots on my facebook. I tend to block their posts from my feed.

I agree with the idea of the pill... BUT, I can only imagine the shock, the tramua, the doctors, the hiding away from life that would take place after.. sometimes the pill might be the last on their minds.

I would say I'm in the middle? I believe that there are circumstances in which abortion is needed (rape by family/stranger) BUT I also believe heartbeat=alive. I think a lot of people feel that way.. and probably our reason for never making it illegal.

I feel I am prolife, but I guess I am prochoice in practice.

I do have issues myself with abortion in general. I really find it hard to articulate my stance though, I guess because i just don't want to debate the complexities completely with myself. i know what I think I would do. If I had an "unplannedd" pregnancy I would keep it, even rape or major disease. ( I said I think, because who truly knows until they are faced with it) But i feel it is wrong moral and otherwise. Yet I have friends who have and feel no particular way about it and don't really judge people in that way for doing it. I would never vote to make it illegal, but could I vote to make it OK? I Know, semantics, not sure I coud. So I guess I'm one of those people that feel better about other people making those difficult decisions...I can follow the law of the land.

I just think everyone has a right ot choose whatever about thier life. They are the ones who have to deal with the consequences, including religious (between them and God) I feel this way about a lot of things, we all have our own lives to live and to be responsible for, even though some of our actions may affect others. But we can never truly influence ourselves from dissapoint, tragedies, and trauma (this goes to the others experience.)

I put unplanned in quotes, because I believe the only situation in which pregnancy would truly be unplanned is via rape/assault. Otherwise it's just a consequence of the risk you took..
