Hi
My name is Dalis, I'm so excited that I've found this group. I have more than 100 lbs to lose and am happy there's a support group here. Like some of you here I have been trying to lose weight for years. I have tried prescription diet pills, the hcg diet, boot camp 6 week program twice, and LA weight loss (before they closed all of their stores), and several other dumb diets. My goal had always been to reach my ideal weight when I turned 30, so when I turned 30 last summer I cried because I hadn't. I am more determined now than ever to prove to myself that I can do this!
I am a mother of 2 children, a 5 year old boy, and a 1 year old girl. I am returning to school in the fall, and need tips on how to stay focused with a busy schedule.
I am serious about losing weight and have heard how helpful it is to have a support group. I don't know many people who need to lose 100+ lbs and therefore don't have anyone who understands what I am going through. My husband is very healthy and trim. He loves biking, swimming, running, hiking, basketball, weight lifting, and pretty much exercise in general. He's supportive, but doesn't quite understand the emotions I go through. LOL...I figure I'd spare him. He needs a break, poor guy.
So far I've lost 10 pounds since I started last month. I feel good about this and am working toward my next 10 pound goal.

Hi Dalis,
Welcome to the group. Your right it is great to be in a group to have that support of others through triumphs and through hurdles not only in losing weight but in everything. I have many groups in lots of places around the net and I look to them all for support.
I like you want to learn to love physical activity. I have recently started running even with my bad knees and joints I still have found a fondness for it. I want to run a 5k this year and do a marathon in the future. I love the outdoors but never have had the energy to participate in the activity I was usually a spectator. But I am getting there.
What are you going to school for? Congrats on that!
I set 10 lb goals too! It is a real boost to get to those usually each month. The one thing that has helped me it learning that I am not on a diet but a lifestyle change. I looked up what I would eat at my goal weight to maintain and that is where I set my calories. It is 300-400 calories(1500-1600 calories) more than My Fitness Pals 1280 it had me set at to lose 2lbs a week. The good thing there is I never have to feel restricted and I still lose 2.5 lbs average a week. I will be able to actually eat more when I reach my 150 lb. goal about 70 more to lose. I would love to be your cheerleader and support you through this journey.
Losing with you,
Amy0 -

Hey Dalis,
Nice to meet you. I am Linda and I live in Western New York. I have 6 kiddos, 1 teenage daughter and five little boys!
My biggest pieces of advice are to make small changes at a time, look at as becoming healthy, and a lifestyle change. Also check out this site fat2fitradio.com. It's awesome!0 -
Amy thanks for your kind welcome. I actually recently decided to major in FHD. I am excited that I finally figured out what it is I want to study. : )
I am so impressed by your weight loss so far! You are amazing! I hope to follow in your footsteps. Where did you find how many calories you're supposed to eat? I feel like mine are too low right now MFP has me at a little over 1460 & I always feel hungry.
I would love to have you as my friend on MFP if that's ok? I already feel very encouraged by you!0 -
Linda, thanks for the great advice! I checked out the website and love it!0
