New to PCOS, I have questions :)

Hey fellow PCOSers!
I was recently told by my obgyn that I have PCOS. And I have a few questions
1) Any tips on controlling the facial hair?
I get whisker like hairs on my chin, under my chin, and right in between the throat and under chin. I have tried just shaving it but it doesn't seem to be helping and sometimes I can't get the stubborn hairs on my under chin.Tip?
2) What sort of acne products do you use?
I have been struggling with acne since I was a teenager. It started getting better when I started college but in the last year it has come back bad! I get it mostly on my chin, shoulders, back and chest. I have been washing my face with dove soap and doing a 'facial treatment' once a week. For my body I don't know what else to do but use normal body wash.
3) Has anyone else experienced thicker hair growth on the stomach and breast area?
I recently realized I have darker, thicker hair growing on my stomach and around my breasts. Is this a part of the PCOS? If so, how do you control it?
4) How can I hide/camouflage/ get rid of my stretch marks?
I gained a lot of weight really quickly before I knew I had PCOS. I gained about 50 pounds or so in the course of only a few months. As a result, I got bad stretch marks. I have tried cocoa butter lotions and I guess they have helped a little with the coloring. Is there a way to make them disappear?
Thank you guys so much! I'm sorry for all the question, I just don't want this to control my life! I am clueless about all of this!
Thanks again!

For the acne, cut sugar out of your diet. I know when ive had too much chocolate, i break out in spots.
And for stretchmarks - vitamin e cream. twice a day for 3 years has made mine improve so much! (I'm 25 but i have more stretch marks then My mother of 3 mom! )0 -
Thank you so much!
Cutting down/out sugar is going to be the hardest thing for me I think. But I'm willing to do what it takes
Also, I'm going to have to try the Vitamin E cream. I have stretch marks around my entire lower belly And all up and down my legs, arms, and breast. It's tough but I'm trying to think of them as tiger stripes0 -
I have stretchmarks all over me too. But I painted a storm cloud across my midriff and now they look like lightening marks! lmao!
i use E45 cream, but specialist vit E cream is best if you can get it. Lube yourself up in it, then cover yourself in clingfilm. No, its not a strange kink, its how best to help all that cream go all into your skin for the maximum about of time.
Vitamin D is also good for your skin, so make sure you are not deficient in that.
Stray hairs on your chin are common in as you grow older, but I've found if you shave or wax it irritates the hair follicles too much. What I do, (and this is only my solution lol) is I take a bright light, a shaving mirror, and a realy sharp pair of nail clippers, and get them like that. I've found if you use scissors and you slip you can easily cut more off then a hair >.> at least nail clippers hopefully arent as lethal. Also, you can press down on them, which is a lot easier to control with my left hand then trying to use scissors!
if you want to get rid of hair perm, you need laser treatment maybe?
Another thing to think of is cutting out junk food/processed foods, which will also help with the acne. Just think, if that nice MacDonalds is gonna end up being squeezed out of your blackheads you'll never eat one again!
You can also use stuff like clearsil or other such products on skin other then your face, but I wouldnt use it on your "delicate" areas and on thin skin. Its too strong. For stubborn spots in such places, use witch hazel or tea tree oil.
if you're still getting spots, try non bio washing powder? thats what finally knocked mine on the head.
Blimey you can tell ive been there, cant you? lol! I hope I helped u a little bit, and good luck xx0 -
the horrible thing about PCOS is that the weight gain is what causes most of these side effects. the more insulin resistant you are the more testosterone you produce and thats why you get the side effects like the excess hair and acne. losing weight in itself can help to reduce a lot of these symptoms. For the acne, cut the sugar out as suggested and its worth investing in a good skincare regime. I use Clinique 3 step program and it works really well for me at keeping mine under control.
for stretch marks i really recommend bio-oil as well.
cutting the sugars out and sticking to good carbs and exercise will help you lose the weight more and reduce the other symptoms. Laser treatment for the hair growth is a possibility if you can get it free or afford to pay for it, but a lot of UK doctors won't refer you for that sort of treatment on the NHS unless you've tried losing the weight first. They may also try and put you on something like Metformin to help you drop some pounds, which I find is really helpful.0 -
My acne/hair was so bad I had to be put on an anti testosterone medication. It has minimal side effects and is very cheap.
What Robyn suggested has been my exp. I had to cut carbs/sugars because of the IR and most if not all my acne is almost gone (after 2 months)
I do not know much about skin care because most of my adult life I have suffered from this (im 30 now) and have no real idea what exactly "normal" people do! So I feel like a teenager again and need all these beauty secrets explained to me0 -
Oh ever since i been placed on metformin my acne has become much better no more breakouts but unfortunately the facial hair is still there i been on this med since november. but diet and exercise is helping with other symptoms just keep the sugar out and if u feel like eating chocolate eat a piece of dark chocolate i still have it on occasion cause i know i can't cut it out completely lol hang in there.0

Aldectone is the best solution I found for facial hair (and acne). It slows the growth significantly and it's now blonde instead of black.0
