Best Evil Dead Movie?

So I was shocked when I learned one of my friends (no names) hadn't seen any of the Evil Dead movies! :noway:

Got me thinking about which one is best - the original, Dead by Dawn or Army of Darkness.

What do you think fellow geeks?

(Also, if you haven't seen the movies, feel free to post anyway - it'll make my friend, who I know is lurking here, not feel so alone.)

    Posting what I posted on your status so others can see and agree/disagree/rant:

    ED1 is CLASSIC. ED2, more cheese. Army of Darkness, ULTIMATE cheese... it's tied between ED1 and AoD for me, though I can admittedly quote more of AoD.

    Agreed - I think the first two are great for many reason, but AoD is just - well, amazing! It's funny in horrible ways and there are so many quotable lines!

    I love them all that much its why i collect the comics :happy: but ED1 scared the bejesus out of me!

    Very cool collection! I will admit that ED1 made me extremely wary about walking in the forest in a nightgown - those trees can be frisky! <--- understatement.

    I can surely say that ED1 was horrifiying as a child, and even to this day some scenes are kinda haunting... >_>

    ED1 for me now.

    When I was younger it was ED2 for sure, I could quote every bit of Bruce's dialogue line-for-line. But as I got older, ED2 didn't age as well. ED1 just has an atmosphere about it that's tangible and brilliant.

    Did I ever mention the missus and I originally got together through a mutual love of Bruce Campbell, and five years into our marriage, we told him face to face that he was the reason we were married, true story. :smile:

    The first one is more of a straight horror movie (sorta), the second one is the funniest, and the third one is funny but kinda bites off a little more than it can chew.
