Feeding Non-Vegans ;)

We had four very good friends over for dinner tonight. As a Mother's Day gift my partner made vegan chili for the first time. We fed it to our friends without informing them it was meatless. Everyone had seconds and were very surprised when we told them it was vegan. It was really good chili! So it's possible to easily feed your non-vegan friends good food without compromising your diet.

My meat eating sons have "accidentally" eaten my food more than once. They really do like the sloppy joes I make with vegan burger crumbles. They have also eaten several of my salads. As people see my health improve and weight go down, they are developing more of an open mind.0

Before I was vegan I was buying soy meat crumbles just because as a college student, they were cheaper than meat and easier to make. I fed them to my boyfriend and he loved them so he started getting them.0

I have found some of the dishes in the Vegan Slow Cooker book to be really good for guests. Everyone knows we're vegan and don't expect us to serve meat, but our food is always well received.
Saturday I made the Chorizo Sweet Potato Casserole (very flavorful, and super easy...so good!) and served it with salad, cookie dough dip and fruit.
On Sunday, I made pear and cardamom french toast casserole in the crockpot while we all went to a Mother's Day race (my 5 y/o and I ran), which was super delicious. One of my daughters ate three bowls full!
For lunch we had pei wei, but then for dessert I made chocolate mint pie from Chocolate Covered Katie. We also snacked on popcorn and trail mix. No problems! One of my daughters had to go to the store to buy soda though since we don't drink it. ha ha!
I've seen/heard of other people making vegan food only to have it rejected by guests and family, and that totally hasn't happened here. I don't typically serve my most HEALTHY vegan food, but usually something super delicious and hearty (and easy to make for a crowd) and I never have refusals.0 -
I recently discovered vegan weisswurst..delicious! My boyfriend loved them, too and.....he's German! :P
My mum likes basil tofu and tofu with soy sauce and sesame seeds
Oh and my vegan sushi is always super successful ;D0 -
I made spaghetti bolagnase for my boyfriends flat when I was staying with them, and made myself a vegie version with nutmeat. One of the boys was out so I put some of the meat version in the fridge, and I put my leftovers in the fridge - he came home and ate mine, and was like "wow, this is so delicious! What did you put in this?" assuming it was the meat one I told him that I grate carrot into it (my secret way of getting the boys to eat vegies), but when I went to have mine for dinner the next night I saw he'd been eating mine! I had warm fuzzies.0
