Not a rider...yet

Hi ladies! I'm not a rider yet, but I am working on it. Since having to give up horseback riding I have been looking for a reasonably less expensive alternative.
My main obstacle is convincing my husband that I "need" a bike. Of course, I don't need a bike, but I WANT one. A bike would truly serve no practical purpose, other than to be a toy. We do already have a Camaro, which has been our vehicular toy, but I like the idea of a bike. We live in Florida, so it could be used all year.
Anyone got some good compelling arguments I could toss at him?

Of course you NEED a bike.... I NEED a bike and 2 horses and a 4x4 and my animals.... thats just how it is!!!
i have to say though at the moment my bike costs more than my horses
Its as close to riding a horse as you can get without riding a horse.... Oh and they have brakes too....
Tell hubs, you NEED a bike... Cars are cars  dont do anything for me... Just becuase you're breathing, doesnt mean you're alive....
Good luck x0 -
Gas!! It will save you some gas money! I know my car gets pricy when I fill the tank. My bike? Not even $10! I havea 250, but it's awesome. Especially if you live in Florida. Hope that helps your case!!0

WHEN you become a rider what will you ride? I say when because really it's only a matter of time. I don't need the bike but I NEED the decompression that I get after work taking the long way home. Really I need shoes. I don't NEED hand painted Sanita clogs. I don't need jazzercise membership, but don't try living with me unless I get my daily recess.
As far as toys go....I have a bedroom closet full of clothes that are above and beyond what I NEED.
Do it for yourself for Mother's day. Bring it home and show him what you bought for yourself.0 -
Thanks ladies for the support! I am still working on the bike plan, but am putting things on hold for a bit since I am going out of town for a month. My husband keeps trying to talk me into a scooter, but I want a bike!
I'm thinking I'll start with a 250 and see how it goes from there. I would eventually like something I can take on short road trips (2 hours) down the interstate. My dad always told me to go 500 for interstate riding.0 -
You'll be more comfortable on something a bit bigger, and as Warren Miller says...if you don't do it this year you'll be one year older when you do.0
