Being tall and running

I just found out that if you have lost an inch or more of height you shouldn't run because your back has begun to compress and running makes it worse. At my last physical I found that I am no longer 5'10.5" I am now 5'9.5" which is no surprise, most of the people in my family "settled" about the same age, but several of them developed back problems later in life, so I think I will take the advice of my uncle-in-law, who is an ex-runner and doctor and avoid the running.

Sounds like good advice to me. I always pay attention to family wisdom.
I don't mind sprinting a bit here and there, but I have never liked jogging or running.0 -
Wow I never thought about that. I've always ranged between 5' 11" and 6' at the doctors depending on if I have back pain that day or not.
For me, running actually makes my back feel better IF I keep my posture loose and tall and wear the right shoes.I'll have to watch my height tho and see.. my family isn't huge on running haha
