Inov-8 shoes

Does anyone wear these? What do you think of the fit? One of our CF coaches wears them and recommended them.
I just got a pair in the size shoe I normally wear and they feel good in the foot part but the toe box seems long. I'm debating whether to send them back and get a smaller size.

Nevermind... sent them back. Guess I'll go look for some this weekend. Any suggestions?0

I haven't even heard of these - why did you want to try them in the first place?
I'm new to CF and just trying to stay alive.. Yesterday I bought a foam roller to help with some of the kinks, and the guy who sold it to me is a hardcore CFitter. He told me shoes are really important - and I hadn't even thought of them.
So shoe suggestions of any kind would be much appreciated.0 -
I've heard good things about these and was considering getting myself a pair. I believe if you buy them off of zappos they give you a year to return them!0

Yep, that's where I bought them. Zappos actually has a sale on them right now if you don't care about hideously ugly bright green shoes. :-) They make a statement! http://www.zappos.com/inov-8-bare-xf-210-green-black
I returned the pair that I bought, but am probably going to reorder a size smaller. A lot of people at my CF wear them and it was actually recommended by the coach. I had been wearing my old running shoes, but she said that since the heal is a little higher than the toe it pushes me forward and counteracts form in certain movement.
@EmmEfff- hahaha my foam roller and I have a very interesting love hate relationship...0 -
I wear inov-8 f-lite 230 and f-lite 195's for the majority of my WOD's. The difference in the numbers is the heel height. If you look at the back of the inov-8 they have arrows right above the heel, 3 arrows: 9mm heel, 2 arrows 6mm heel, 1 arrow 3mm heel, 0 arrows 0 heel. I like the 230's for WOD's that involve high rep/lower weight squatting or Oly lifting... i.e. grace, fran, etc. They are good because they have a slight heel (like my oly shoes) but I can still do other movements if the workout calls for say box jumps or burpees and I can't wear my oly shoes. I like the 195's for WOD's that don't involve lifting but are body weight and running heavy because I have always preferred minimalist running and they are pretty close to the feeling of running in my vibrams... with a little heel if there are body weight squats or something of that nature involved. I wear Oly Shoes for heavy squats, cleans, OHS, snatch, etc... Wearing running shoes (which usually have a pronounced and spongy heel, because a majority of people run with a heel strike and need the extra shock absorbtion) are HORRIBLE for lifting, when doing just a regular back squat with just the bar in running shoes, the path of the bar on the descent can be forward or backward of the center of gravity by as much at 17%!!! Add any sort of load on there and you are looking at a potential injury. I usually go barefoot for deadlift and warm up for squatting barefoot as well, some gyms don't allow it, but it's better for the lift, flexibility and learning to "push through the ground". So are shoes important in crossfit, yes, they are important in any sport you are attempting... you wouldn't wear golf shoes to play baseball right? Overall people in crossfit like inov-8's because they promote midfoot and forefoot strike when running and they have a sturdier heel for less bar movement when lifting. They are pretty decent all around shoes0

Second pair of invo-8 bare-x go back to Zappos today. They tore up my feet and legs!!! Seriously felt like I felt when I had torn a tendon in the bottom of my foot.
F-lite 195 came in yesterday and I'll try them out tonight! I think I finally got them in the right size too... strangely enough they are an entire US size smaller than my regular shoes.
Thanks to everyone for their input!0
