Hi.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there has ever really dabbled in this sort of stuff?

http://quantifiedself.com

"A place for people interested in self-tracking to gather, share knowledge and experiences, and discover resources"

I find it intriguing and have purchased a fitbit ultra to use along with mfp as an entry point towards collecting data on progress I make towards improving my health and fitness.

    Interesting site!

I've been tracking several variables on my bidaily treadmill walks (date, duration, total distance walked, average and maximum speed, average and maximum pulse, and calories burned) because I'm a numbers guy. I have no idea what they will all mean, but I've made several interesting graphs. I've just been using a Google Docs spreadsheet for my tracking, so I can access the data whether I'm at home or elsewhere.

It looks like that site is pretty much just for discussion of techniques and findings, but it doesn't provide any actual tools, right?

While I don't think the site provides tools directly, there is an index of various tools and pieces of kit:

At the moment, there are descriptions covering over 500 tools.

I have a tendency to make spreadsheets and track different sorts of data as well. If others are interested, maybe we could explore sharing 'templates' and other resources. I'll wait to see how much interest, if any, is expressed.
