Started out with good intentions...

I just joined yesterday and already I am not doing well, too many stressors going on right now. I am a diabetic and I am not eating well.
We just discovered that my partner also has diabetes, but she won't go to the doctor. We are both trying to eat better, lose weight, and exercise.
Today has been a really bad day for me. My dad is in the hospital and not doing well at all. Today they tried to put in and NG tube to feed him and were not able to get it in. Tomorrow they are going to try to put it in thru his chest. He is going to die without it and he may die during the procedure to place it. All 5 siblings and myself are beside ourselves with fear for him. He is 83. My mother has the beginings of dementia and she is a mess with worry.
Sorry to vent here. Just needed to get some of it out!

Keep your head up. God will never put more on you than you can handle. I have been through some very rough times in the past 10 yrs. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.0

I hope your Dad has a better day tomorrow and a GI tube is successfully inserted.
Try not to beat yourself up for not eating well.......its one choice at a time and any small improvement is still an improvement.
My Dad is 74 and has high blood sugar [diabetes]. He's decided he won't take any prescription drugs for anything, but is conscientious about diet and exercise.
This is a good place to vent!0 -
I'm sorry you are having a rough time. But that's when you should rely on us the most. Vent as much as you want. And log everything..no matter how disappointing. Eventually it will click.0

Take your diet day by day. Remember, it's a lifestyle, not everyday will be perfect. I am sorry to hear about your father. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.0

Vent away
So sorry to hear that things aren't going well with your aging parents. This is a difficult time for you.
As for not doing well on MFP:
You've made the decision to make the lifestyle change so you are well on your way. You may be having some bad days but overall you are already becoming healthier by simply being more aware.
Something that is often forgotten (I seem to have forgotten about it for years) is that exercise is extraordinarily good for when you need to manage your stress levels. You may not be eating well but at least take a short break and go for a swim or walk.
Keep us posted

Thank you all for the inspirations.
Dad passed away on Memorial Day. On the following Saturday I came down with a severe upper respiratory infection and have been sick since. I feel completely wiped out, but slowly getting better.
Loosing my dad, actually my step dad, has devistated me, Karen, and the rest of my family. We are all very close. I lost my bio father about 25 years ago. Loosing 2 wonderful fathers, to me is just horribly unfair.
My depression is worse and I am trying to fight it. I need to get back to my exercises and I hope I can do so in the next week or two.0
