Binge Eating out of Frustration

Hi all,

I need to vent a bit. I was very upset last night and ended up binge eating. My puppy chewed up my fitbit and a new watch that I bought about a month ago. I was so upset with the puppy that I ended up going to the kitchen and eating cereal, toast, and ice cream. Talk about defeating my efforts! I have been doing well so far, and I was so mad at the puppy that I ate. The puppy also ran away from me last night when I was trying to get him in the house. Last night was a not a good night. I did order another fitbit since I really like using it. It keeps track of my steps and my sleep and lets me know how many extra calories I can eat throughout the day. Hopefully, I'll get the new one soon. In the meantime, I will stick to the allotted calories I'm allowed on myfitnesspal.

Hey Cinzil. That really sucks. I remember going through puppy years and they destroy everything. Especially when they are teething. Get him some things to chew on. Cow hooves are great because they take forever for them to chew down. You can get them at the pet store.

Now on to you... Your food diary isn't shared, so not sure what type of cereal you ate. But cereal is healthier than a bag of chips. I keep skinny cow ice cream in the freezer, that way when I have to eat ice cream, it isn't high calorie ice cream. Did you go over your calorie limit? You can't beat yourself up for one day. Do not let it throw you off track. Keep doing the good work you have been doing, you will be fine.

    Please, read this. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/606721-after-a-binge-after-a-meal-out-read-this

You are doing great. Big hugs!!! :flowerforyou:

Cinzil, I feel your frustration. I lost my Fitbit on Thursday & had to replace it as well. I normally wear it clipped to my bra but after a walk, I moved it to my front pants pocket and somehow it popped off. I lost it somewhere at work but no one turned it in to our lost & found. I'm totally addicted to the thing so I had to replace it- it's a great self-motivator & I felt lost without it.

I agree with Holly that the best way to keep a puppy out of your stuff is to give them chew toys to gnaw on. And remember, as with having a baby in the house, you have to remember to "puppy proof" your house & keep your stuff out of their reach. Luckily they grow out of the chewing phase.

I used to be an emotional eater too. I've had a couple of rough days since being on this plan. Instead of eating, I now make myself go for a nice long walk. I'm trying to replace a bad habit with a healthy one.

Hope the rest of your weekend goes better. Hugs, Debbie

Thanks for all the advice. The puppy does have lots of chew toys. We did just fence in our yard, so that should help. I also have him in puppy training at Petsmart. He just graduated from puppy class, and now, we are going to the intermediate class. He definitely needs more training. I need to clean my house and make it more puppy proofed. It's not very puppy proofed right now. Debbie, I can't wait to get another fitbit. I ordered a new one a few days ago, but it with the holiday, I probably won't get it until the end of the week. I've used pedometers and other tools, but I really like the fitbit. Holly, thanks for input and the link about binge eating. Binge eating has always been my biggest problem. I did make my diary public, so any advice is always welcome. I am an extremely picky eater, so I tend to eat the same types of foods.

I have noticed that since I started this and made some healthier choices, my tastes have changed. The old me would have never eaten a veggie burger. Now I really like them (good ones are great, cheap ones, not so much.) So give different foods a chance, they may grow on you.
