Gestational diabetes

I am almost 18 weeks along and last week had to stay at the hospital for 2 days for an asthma attack. They pumped me full of steroids. Although my breathing rapidly improved, I was informed that I will most likely develop gestational diabetes
does anyone else have it and is it difficult to manage?? Did u use the sugar count on here to help keep track????

I haven't had GD, but know several people who have. Your diet will depend on how severe your case is. Typically if you have it your OB will set you up with a nutritionist who will help you to understand the diet, how many carbs you should eat per meal, etc. It know it's important to keep a steady blood sugar level, so you'll be eating frequent, small meals. Hopefully you won't even have to worry about it, but if you do there is a ton of information out there that I'm sure will help you along!0

How much prednisone if you don't mind me asking ? I've been on anywhere from 3 mg daily to 20 mg and never got GD. I've been on prednisone now for 6 years . Doesn't mean you will get it , prolonged use can increase your risk though. I get a early glucose tolerance test which I passed and will get another at 24 weeks. I would talk to my ob if your worried and maybe have them do it early.0

I had to get about 10 shots into my IV in the course of 2 days!! They said that if I get it, it's because of the massive dose in a short time frame!!! I just hope I don't!!!!0
