So... where do we all get our canning supplies?
I've been buying my lids at the dollar store but they just jumped up in price to par with all the other suppliers around here, 20% increase since last month.
Any one with experience with the Tattler reusable lids? I'm interested in them just haven't had a chance to purchase.
I have so far only done water-bath canning, would love to do pressure canning, power is unstable enough here I've already lost a freezer full once due to the power, pressure canning would reduce my reliance on the power.
Jams, peaches, beets are the extent of my canning so far but definitely planning to increase the variety.
I buy used canning jars at yardsales and the like if the prices are decent enough, some people "Try" charging $8 a jar.. I can buy a dozen new for $12 for the larger 1L jars, $10 for the 500mL so not paying that for used jars... I'm not too worried about chips along the lip etc any chips lead them straight to the garage for nuts / bolt / screw and nail storage.
So many other ways to "process" our own foods too, I've got a dehydrator... dried fruit and jerky will be my products there.

I have found tons of good deals on craigslist for jars. Also, estate sales. I buy new lids but the older jars are much better, a lot more sturdy. I have many, many boxes in my basement right now.0
