Hi y'all,
I'm new to this group and to running. I just completed my third 5K today and thought I would reach out and see if any lovely MFP people were there too. It was the See Jane Run 5K in Alameda, CA on June 3, 2012. Were you there?
I would say that I **ran** only the last few hundred feet or so, but wow, it felt AMAZING! I wogged (walked and jogged) the rest of the way. I'd love to continue to get in shape so that I can run for longer and longer. Hope to meet y'all soon.
Best,
Abi

Congratulations on your success! No, I wasn't there, but I do enjoy all the energy that surrounds 5K runs. My last 5K was in December of last year, and then I sort of gave up on running. Now I'm training for another 5K in July. Even though I just started training, it's amazing how good it makes you feel!0

Awww, thanks y'all!
You are right, there is so much great energy out there! It's fantastic!!
Congrats on signing up for another race!
I love 5ks because it's just enough to push me farther than I thought possible and enough to have me actually finish the darn thing. I would love to do a half marathon one of these days, but I think that that won't be for quite awhile yet.
I also totally wish that I would have realized how fabulous it feel to run a lot earlier. Thanks for bringing this up! How did you realize that you actually LIKED to run?0
