Most receptions I've been to had them. We had one at our reception. Between that and the gifts, that pretty much just paid for the party itself...which is really all it was, a party. We got married in Vegas then came back and had a party. It's fun and lets you get to talk to everyone because you don't always get a chance. You can say thanks and not feel bad about missing anyone.

Oh, we also had karaoke...and a couple family members made some food, so not catered.
