What do you eat the night before a sprint?

Before races (running), I never think about what I eat the night before. But, I figure that since the sprint will take 1.5-2 hours, I should plan a decent meal the night before. What do you guys eat?

I'm sure others will make a post with valuable nutritional information, , but from a practical standpoint, I would recommend something you have you have eaten before and your stomach will still feel fine in the morning. I would also plan extra water to make sure you are well hydrated before the race. Also on race day, no new foods, snacks supplements, drinks etc. Only use previously tried supplements, and you know how it will affect you!

You really don't need to carb load before a sprint. I echo the thought of something that will sit.ok in your stomach.

I pretty much always go for grilled chicken and brown rice; I know it will fill me up but not too much and won't upset my stomach the next morning.

I echo the lean meat and a carb. I feel that the morning meal is just as important though because it will be the first energy your tap during the race. I do a plain bagel with lots of peanut butter and honey!

Agreed. I also have a ton of friends that go with Ensure as the mainstay of a prerace morning meal.

I do a lean meat--grilled chicken or shrimp usually--and rice/spaghetti/angel hair pasta, but at a usual amount, not really loading up on the carbs. Morning of I do toast and yogurt with water. Always something safe, food you've had before. Chances are if you don't have GI problems during a running race, you won't have them during a tri either.

A good morning meal will make your race great. A bad one will make your race misery. I'm a huge fan of eggs, veggies, and whole grains for breakfast, but not on race day. On race day morning, I'm all about granola, oats, whole grain breads/bagels, stuff like that. Clif bars go down well for me.

Also, for what it's worth, I never purposefully carbo load the night before (Although when I'm with a group we do generally tend to go to pasta places. Groan.). If I carbo load, it's 2 days out. And not a huge pig-out, either. Just a standard sized meal. My favorite is spaghetti with mushroom sauce, or pad thai with an unsweetened boba tea.

    White and Brown Rice
    Garlic Roasted Potatoes
Couple pieces of chocolate (Couldn't help myself)
