HOLY F**** DIZZLE WHAT THE HELL OH CRAP.
Who ARE these people with that kind of money to just BURN? Good lord. GOOD LORD. I mean I HAVE 250 dollars but on my list of things I want to spend it on, better stats for diablo is FAIRLY LOW. And by low I mean its not on the list and its a BIG list.0 -
Oh my god! I need to start farming. I have a few things that I want to sell but my pay-pal doesn't seem to want to sync to my account.0
-
scares me... with the numbers coming out of this how long until more games take this up...
did your hubbys friend give you a kickback for the helm you gave him?0 -
$250?!
damn I play about 1-3 hrs a week. I guess I can't quit my real job anytime soon. :frown:0 -

Nah he is a good friend and he needs the cash so my husband let him keep all the cash.
Now that I think of it, I kind of would have liked for WoW to have a public auction house.... I think this would have eliminated all the stupid hacking or maybe the Chinese gold farming?0 -
i dont know about reducing hacking, i think if there were real money to be made people would hack MORE for a real payout
i prefair GW2's way of doing it,
one AH across ALL THE SERVERS (so no more, awwh XYZ are well expensive on my server etc..)
and people if inclined can "buy gold", though buying gems, and then selling the gems for gold, so players gold rich can use the cash shop for "free" and people who need a few gold coins and dont mind dropping a few £ for it can cut out the account hacking and scamming of gold sellers0 -
Wtf my husband needs to get on his game and make us some money lol0

I doubt these kind of numbers are sustainable, it's a new thing so people are going kind of nuts with it, but at some point it's going to get flooded and prices will likely plummet on most stuff.
As a level 48 working my way through Nightmare, I kind of feel like Blizzard's "balancing" the loot system to avoid to many of an item showing up in the auction houses is only going to cause problems for people like me who just want to play the game and enjoy it. I'm already noticing that the drops I'm getting are usually 8-10 levels below me, which is a bummer. In the end, my lack of desire to take use the auction house only means that I'm going to be more poorly prepared for Inferno and Hell when I get to them, because the stuff I need to get through those difficulties is being farmed out to sell in the auction house.
I'm at the point where I'm waiting for Torchlight 2, hoping it'll be a more satisfying experience.0 -
I've not played D3, but I imagine once some AH add-on ala Auctionator will make some people some real money instead of just digital fortunes...0

Keep in mind I believe there's a fee or something to cash out. Its fee-free if you want to spend it on blizzard stuff (more account time for wow, games, etc) but otherwise they take a percentage. And I agree with genem that these kind of numbers probably aren't mass sustainable.
But not that the loot drops make it un-fun, although i have heard that argument from others. Its totally possible to progress using just the gear you've gotten dropped, its just harder that way. Alternately you can go and drop a few thousand gold on the AH and get some decent upgrades. (just filter for items with the stats you want that cost less than 2,000, you'll be surprised how many there are)0 -
HOLY CRAP! Are you serious?
My coworkers have sold piddly low level stuff for a few bucks here and there. I've been keeping my Auction House transactions to Gold instead of USD.
This kinda makes me want to rush through the game and level like crazy.0 -
Wow. I found a legendary the other day. Time to see if I can sell!0

Real money on a video game auction house is kinda extreme. Shame on Blizzard for exploiting people with bad gaming habits.0

I am seriously against the RMAH myself. I think that is sucks that Blizzard have put this in the game in order to get people more and more addicted to D3 and so that they can get a cut of it. Its akin to gambling as you are running around in D3 just hoping you get a lucky drop eventually like someone playing on the slot machines.
I could spend some time and blast my way to 60 (I'm at 48 at the moment) and run around to try and find some stuff that someone with more money than sense wants to buy, but there is way more to life than that and the RMAH prices are insane at $250 for a couple of better stats. I wouldnt care, but a look at the gold AH suggests the stuff in my my stash is probably quite valuable... but I'm not about to feed Blizzard or anyone else's addiction.0 -
everyone on the RMAH is a treasure goblin working for Greed for real!!
I was expecting to see items going for at most $20, but $250??
who knows, maybe because the RMAH was implemented not to long ago, the ridiculous prices might drop drastically, or maybe it won't if people still buy virtual crap for $250 (yes, I am kinda jealous, I wish I had money to blow on crap like that),0 -
Confirmed!!! He sold another item last night for $100!
Holy crap!!0
