Calling all geeks, subspecies 'girrrl':

Got a few questions for you...

My Coach gave me an assignment ---> Define the ecosystem of the Geek Girl.

(Believe it or not, this is part of my weight loss, muscle building, bacon consuming plan for world domination.)

Where do you play?
What do you read?
How do you spend your money?
What do you drink?
What nutrition works for you?
Is your health and fitness plan built from cutting edge science?
Where do you live?
Are you single, married, otherwise connected?
Do you, as a Geek Girls have kids?
If so, did science affect your choice of DNA gathering?
What is your favorite online resource?
What do you do to relax?
What brand of clothing (if any) is important to you?
What gadgets rock your world?
What car do you drive?

I'm designing a product for my business to possibly be included in the Geek Girl Con 2012 Swag Bag. You can help me serve Geekdom better.

TIA

What is your business? Please tell me you are not here to sell us fitness goods. It would upset me.

I never call myself a geek girl as I frankly don't think of myself as a "GIRL" per se. But still, I bet I qualify (At the very least I want a goodie bag....)

I need clarification though! where do I play...? Like...physical location or what kind of stuff? And also I'm not sure what use you will get out of this but here you go.

Read: mostly the interwebs, but also novels sometimes, I go through phases but it is almost always in the sci-fi/fantasy side of the world. Also I used to read the newspaper religiously but lately not as much.

Money: Food. Seriously. All my money goes to food. <3

Drink: Uh.... tea, coffee, water, beer, wine, bourbon, non-sweet cocktails made with a variety of liquors.

Nutrition: eat what I want, within reason. Shoot for 1g of protein per kg of LBM, fill in the rest with whatever. Rarely to never do I drink my calories or eat pure sugar - just personal preferences. I don't really like sweets that much. Also I don't eat until about 11:30-12:30. (aka, I skip breakfast). Also I really don't snack much, very rarely I will have something to fuel a workout if my lunch was light.

..is my health and fitness plan built from CUTTING EDGE SCIENCE? Now I really think you are trying to sell me something. But look at me, giving you the benefit of the doubt here... Yes. It is built from science. I don't know what defines cutting edge besides marketing tactics but yes to science.

live: In a house in southern california

    Married, no kids

    Favorite online resource is google.

Relax - whatever I want to at the time.

Clothing - I'd rather not be clothed.

    Gadgets - ...the interwebs?

    Car - a corolla.

Where do you play? In my living room. Either Xbox or my gaming laptop.
What do you read? Fantasy Fiction. R. A. Salvatore - I love me some Drizz't! Tolkein of course, every few years.
How do you spend your money? Lately, vitamins and protein shakes. Stuff for my koi pond. Dinner & movies, clothes and all things kids.
What do you drink? Just water and coffee these days. Before? Guinness and lots of it.
What nutrition works for you? I'm currently trying to eat as clean as possible, and it feels great to be cutting out the garbage. But I do miss my Guinness. Not that I'd EVER refer to Guinness as garbage.
Is your health and fitness plan built from cutting edge science? I don't think so. Exercise more, eat healthy, eat less. Pretty basic.
Where do you live? Central NY
Are you single, married, otherwise connected? Married
Do you, as a Geek Girls have kids? Yes, two daughters. One of which is a 2nd grader with a strong anime & manga obsession. Don't know where she gets it... :)
If so, did science affect your choice of DNA gathering? This is not the answer you're looking for, but one of my daughters is named after Alyson Hannigan, because, you know, Willow.

What do you do to relax? Skyrim or Dragon Age. Sleep, of course.
What brand of clothing (if any) is important to you? It's not important to me, but I almost exclusively shop at the Loft because they seem to know my style and usually their clothes flatter me better than most. Plus they run a little big so I get a little self esteem boost when trying on clothes there.
What gadgets rock your world? I love my iphone. I'll never own another kind. It's too perfect. And dare I say, intuitive. I also love my computer. It's an alienware, currently with the keyboard backlight splashed out in a fun rainbow. I know there are haters out there, but this bad boy is my baby and I love it. It's a powerhouse.
What car do you drive? Currently an Envoy, as we're stuck with having to drive something heavy to tow our outdoor toys. There's a yuppie inside me dying to get out and drive a BMW 328i though.

    What is your business?

When my daughter was born, I survived a brain injury that cost me my mobility and left me chronic pain for over three years. The physicians I consulted held no hope for me. (See my profile for more info.) On the verge of finding adoptive parents for my daughter because I could no longer care for her independently, I found a cutting edge training/movement system born in neuroscience labs that my specialists had no experience employing.

The system is called Z-Health and I'm an R-Phase trainer which encompasses Repairing injuries, Restoring mobility and Re-educating the neural system but I'm not here to sell that or my ideas about nutrition or anything else. I come here for support and because bouncing ideas around with friends here at MFP has transformed my life. When I feel stuck, I ask my MFP peeps for their opinions and experience and then cool things happen.

Since I've never owned my own business before, I have absolutely no idea what to choose to represent my business should I include something in the grab bag at the convention. I like the idea of giving away something that would make women smile and feel 'gotten', appreciated and honored. I like the idea of marrying that gift to connecting with a community I cherish. So that's where I'm coming from with the post.

    Back to answering your question...

I regained all the lost neural function that threatened my family and my wellness, put every ounce of energy I could muster into reversing the damage and freeing myself to be the best me that I could imagine and accidentally stumbled into athleticism in spite of myself. When I got to the place where I moved well enough to have shed over 100 lbs, I moved on toward other challenges like repairing my ability to learn, building my professional life, etc.

Today I am one of less than 400 people in the world certified to help others the way my Coach helped me...to move naturally and efficiently again. My business? I guess what I do is help others solve seemingly unsolvable problems, medical, physical, emotional, lifestyle, professional and otherwise. Some of my clients call me their Coach, some call me a personal trainer, some call me a healer, some call me a consultant but all of those titles feel a little less than what I do. Perhaps this is because the field of neuroscience is growing and changing so fast that we haven't yet developed words for all of what we're doing. This is something the word-crafters amongst us bemoan regularly.

So I'm really here just looking for an idea of if you were at the GeekGirlCon and got a grab bag, what could I put in it that would delight you?

    Where do you play?

I play video games and board games with friends and family in my lounge room, and pool (billiards) at a place in downtown Wellington.

    What do you read?

Atm I only have time for Batman comics as leisure readings - everything else is either case law, statute law, or a legal based textbook

How do you spend your money?

I waste it on food and transport :frown:

    What do you drink?

Non-alcoholic: lots of earl grey tea atm (with milk and sweetener), as well as coffee, protein shakes, and hot chocolates

Alcoholic: really enjoy vanilla vodka mixed with diet gingerbeer

    What nutrition works for you?

I'm hoping that my current plan of eating TDEE - 15-20% with enough protein suitable for strength training is working for me; I'll get back to you.

Is your health and fitness plan built from cutting edge science?

Yeah, I should hope so, it's based on numbers and a lot of research

    Where do you live?

    Wellington, New Zealand

Are you single, married, otherwise connected?

I'm in a committed long distance relationship; my boyfriend's overseas teaching English in Japan.

Do you, as a Geek Girls have kids?

I don't have any kids, but it's probably inevitable.

If so, did science affect your choice of DNA gathering?

In terms of choosing a father for said kids? Well, love in itself is chemical-based, so I'm going to say that science affects all choices of DNA gathering.

What is your favorite online resource?

Spending most of my internet time on Facebook, MFP, Pinterest, and stuff.co.nz lately.

What do you do to relax?

Play video games or watch TV show episodes with my best mate.

What brand of clothing (if any) is important to you?

    N/A

    What gadgets rock your world?

    Smartphones - anything new

    What car do you drive?

A Toyota Echo - a Nana car

    Where do you play?
    Online.

    What do you read?
I read absolutely anything and everything I can lay my hands on, from prize-winning works of literature to smut.

How do you spend your money?
I have an 18 year old brother. He spends it for me.

    What do you drink?
I don't drink alcohol, so I mostly drink Sprite Zero. Occasionally I'll treat myself to fruit juice or Coke. (bad thinking, I know)

    What nutrition works for you?
Nutrition? *snort* I practice the "chocolate three times a day" approach.

Is your health and fitness plan built from cutting edge science?
My health and fitness plan (if one could call it that) was developed by my personal trainer. She's an athlete and currently doing her Masters degree in Ergonomics. (Disclaimer: She strongly disapproves of the chocolate three times a day)

    Where do you live?
    Small town South Africa.

Are you single, married, otherwise connected?
    Newly married :D

Do you, as a Geek Girls have kids?
    No kids... Yet.

If so, did science affect your choice of DNA gathering?
Yes. I've tried dating stupid boys but it never works. My husband is an aquatic biologist and easily one of the smartest people I know. The fact that he's hot - tall, blonde and blue eyed - is a bonus! A very yummy bonus!

What is your favorite online resource?
    cracked.com (no, really)

What do you do to relax?
    My husband.

What brand of clothing (if any) is important to you?
Not really into clothes. Maybe one day, when I'm thin again I'll start thinking about clothes.

    What gadgets rock your world?
My Kindle, my iPad and my BlackBerry Torch. I. Am. Lost. Without. Them!

    What car do you drive?
A 2012 Nissan Livina X-Gear. Perfect for city driving but butch enough to take out into the bush!

Do you, as a Geek Girls have kids? I don't, I don't know if I will in the future I haven't decided.
If so, did science affect your choice of DNA gathering? That question raises disturbing thoughts about singles meeting peopl and ticking of a checklist about flaws that they don't want passed down - yikes!
What is your favorite online resource? Bit rebels, Trip Advisor, W3 ... oh and MFP of course!
What do you do to relax? Chill out on the sofa, with tea and a book or trash tv or meet friends for coffee
What brand of clothing (if any) is important to you? I like Roxy and Billabong but I mostly get a few pieces and fill out the rest with cheap basics.
What gadgets rock your world? My phone - mostly because it is efficient, it counts my calories, plays my music and tracks my jog as well as telling me whether I should take a jacket and allowing me to be contactable if necessary in one tiny thing - I like things that multitask. My HRM, accurate calorie burn readings - 'mazin
What car do you drive? Ford Fiesta ctdi called Ffion.
