DO you watch TV, listen to talk radio or both?
Do you live for movies or read? Pulp fiction or genre?
where do you get your news info?

Of all those things you listed, talk radio and reading are the ones I do the most. I see about 1 movie a year in theaters. Occasionally I'll get one from the library and if I have time I'll watch it. I do record some shows and watch them after the kids are in bed while I fold laundry.

I prefer to read mysteries and I really like cozy mysteries. They are easy to read and don't take much brain power which I need right now. LOL

I usually get my news info from my hubby. He's more into current events than I am.

Not sure why it would be dangerous. I am home with my 4 kids. Every once in a while I'll catch the local news. Hubby is a news junkie so if I want to find out about something specific I've heard a snippet about, I'll ask him for the details.

We watch tv, go to the movies, and watch the news. We listen to the radio, but must admit it's mostly Christian music. My husband is very much against a steady flow of "junk" into our brains, though, so we typically do not watch shows like Two and a Half Men, for example. There's no way we'd ever watch Jersey Shore or any crap like that.

I dunno... Please don't take this in a bad way but I'm finding the issues are so complex and the 'news' put out there so colored by viewpoint that it takes multiple sources of information to get to whatever resembles 'truth.' Trusting even one other person for this information seems chancy.

@macpatti- no dance moms? I d on't watch tv either....but I'm enjoying my sirius radio but it doesn't give me everything I need.....musically, the 70,80s stations don't play my favorites...tv oye.. I wouldn't recognize a character on madmen,, but I've been thinking I should try just to have something light an fluffy to talk to friends about...

Ha! No Dance Moms here, but I shouldn't have made it sound like I ONLY listen to Christian music. I love classic rock and with kids, I try to keep up with Top 40 so I know what they're listening to. I graduated high school in '85 and stll love my 80's music!

I understand where you're coming from. I wish I had the time to listen to/watch the news more. I am sure I will once the election gets closer. Ever since I quit working to stay home with my first son 9 years ago I have felt somewhat isolated from the "real world". It is better now that the three oldest are in school and I get some adult interaction during the day. But I'm definitely not as up to date on current events as I was when I was working full time. But I am very blessed to be able to stay home with my kiddos and if it means not watching TV or listening to the radio as much, so be it.

honestly for me...Not much at all anymore. to me it's all JUNK. I gave up secular TV and music for almost 2 months a couple of years ago and it was amazing to just draw closer to Christ throughout that time. One of my favorite verses from Scripture is Romans 12:2. http://www.usccb.org/bible/romans/12

Usually If I'm not watching 2 particular Food network shows, then I might have EWTN on. I also listen to Catholic radio or Christian music on my iPhone on my commute. I read books written by Christian and Catholic authors, as well as Muscle and Fitness or Oxygen magazines.

My prayer is that me and my family would fill ourselves up with things of Christ more each day.

    that is so nice ..
i avoid tv, but am hooked on my sirius xm radio-since I spend at least an hour and a half a day in the car....mostly left-leaning talk... but i have the 80s channel, the 70s channel and 50s 60s channel plus reggae tuned in.. some catholic talk too.. which is a bit strange the few times I've tuned in.

I 'liked' catholiconline on facebook and don't like it at all. and I spend too much time on the internet..lately it's mostly here at mfp

We watch Doctor Who at Amazon. We still like the Simpsons, but not any of the other animated ones on Fox. The Middle is not bad.
No cable, but we do watch Hell's Kitchen and Master Chef. Also, we like Shark Tank a lot. These shows are focused on business and process improvement, albeit with a certain amount of bluntness.

I listen to NPR but only in non-election years (except for Frank Deford on Wed mornings). In fact, I've found that the new alternative radio station in town gives me my Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of hipness that I normally got from NPR.

Will rarely watch local news, but my usual source is news.google.com.

interesting. wouldn't that be the most important time? I understand sorting through all the garbage to get to a semblance of reality is tedious but otherwise we're left with bumper stickers... which DO have their place..

What I've always liked about NPR is the in depth coverage, but this ends up repeating conventional talking points in election years.
