I asked a guy out! Kind of...

I can't believe I did this. I guess my recent heartbreak has made me more aggressive. haha

Anyway, last night this guy I met a few months ago at a class messaged me on Facebook. He messages me at least once a week and we always talk for a really long time. I'm not sure if I'm interested in anything romantic with him yet, but I really like his personality and we have a lot in common. We were talking about dating and he is like me: never really gone out with anyone before. So, finally I asked him, "Do you want to hang out?" He said yes and we both decided on a night, but he said he would have to check with work. Then I thought to myself, "Oh no, I probably came on too strong and he's looking for a way out." BUT then he said "If I can't go, we've got to go after you come back from vacation." I then gave him my number and he texted me right away, so I think he is definitely interested. I just don't know if it's romantic or not...

I just wanted to keep it casual, since we are both young and this is the first time we are seeing each other outside of class. So, I said "hangout" instead of "going out on a date". Hopefully it won't lead to any confusion... but still I'm proud of myself for just doing it and not being scared. haha I was dropping so many hints to him, so finally I was like, "I'm just going to do this myself." haha

I doubt he would make an effort if there wasn't something there.

Great job! Definitely a turn on when a pretty, confident woman takes the initiative to ask out a guy. Hope it works out!

"hang out" might cause some confusion but if you want to eliminate any cause for concern start referring to it as your date. For example when following up about if his work will allow him to come out say "Any news on when our date is going to be? :)", or something like that.

It's super that you stepped our of your comfort zone and went for it! Hope you have a blast!

^^^ Definitely agree. Love a woman with confidence enough to just act on or say what she is thinking. Us guys aren't always the best at the subtle hints that women send out.

So he texted me tonight and we ended up texting for 2 hours. He told me he was really busy at work, so he couldn't get together Wednesday night but he said and I quote: "When you get back to town I'm all yours :)" Then I told him what date I was getting back and he said, "I'll keep that whole week open. :)". We also were joking around at one point and he told me I "was nice to look at". haha I'd say he's pretty interested...

Have fun together! Yes, hang out can be a confusing choice of words. Then again, the word date does freak some people out. Semantics should not be worried about as much as having a playful, flirty tone to your conversation and just having a fun time together.
