I just had a baby girl, Kira, and she's 8 weeks old today. I thought it was hard to find time to workout BEFORE i got pregnant -- but now, it seems almost impossible. What are some ways you find time to go to the gym during the day or get your workout in? I live in Indiana and it's been in the upper 90's so, going outside with her is out of the question. Oy, I wish pregnancy weight would just go away once we have our babies.

My pregnancy weight has been a bear to get rid of. My son is almost 5 months old and I've been working since he was a month old. I'm breastfeeding and figuring out the calories I need to lose weight but still maintain my milk supply has been an almost impossible task.
Anyhow, I try to exercise in my house when he takes a nap in the early afternoon. I have some circuit training routines I do and plenty of workout videos. I can generally get a good workout in if he sleeps for at least 45 minutes. Sometimes I'm not so lucky, but at least I tried. I have found that if he wakes up and I am doing a video I can put him in his bouncy seat or on the floor near me and he's pretty entertained with my moving and flailing.... can't say that I blame him, I would probably be entertained too watching my *large* self dance around my living room.
I have also had some luck with leg/butt exercises and crunches with him on my tummy or while he's on his play mat. I try to look for every opportunity to get a leg lift in, lunges, squats etc. If I'm not bouncing around too much I can put him in his carrier and do light weights...... that's my two cents.
Welcome! Feel free to friend me.... I always like to give/receive support from fellow post-preggos.

Hi, my son turned 8 weeks yesterday! I am finding that with 3 boys now, the other two are 3 and 5, I can't really find the time to workout. I've done this before with my last child and lost a lot of weight but I am struggling this time. I am hoping once he gets a little older he will not need constant attention. So I sure know how you feel. Good luck!!

My son is nearly three months old and I had been struggling with dropping any pounds. I also work in a bank, which doesn't afford me much opportunity to move around or walk off calories. I add an extra six hundred calories burned to my exercise log (I created a workout for nursing) and thanks to MFP I am a lot more careful about what I eat, and so far that has been helping. I also try to stand at work as opposed to sitting, which burns some calories. I WISH I had a free moment to myself to workout in the gym again. What home workout videos have proven effective? I've tried a couple and lost interest.

Since I've been watching what I eat and taking my son for walks I have dropped 4lbs.. but the going has been slow. I'm open to tips! And I am very thankful to have found this group! It's good to know that there are others out there with the same struggle! We can all do it!

Hi I just joined the group and I have a 10 week old baby girl. I have found that doing these simple things will help you out.
Drink a glass of water before you eat and take a sip between bites.Cut out all soda. Move for at least 10 minutes a day. I like to do what I call Lazy Girl Fitness literally while I am watching TV and the baby is sleeping. Stop eating at least 3 hours before bed. Portion control your "Treats", a cookie every now and then won't hurt you. Weigh yourself everyday and keep track of your daily weight loss... ounces add up!! Take your vitamins everyday, but not on an empty stomach. Never go hunrgy. It not only hurts your milk supply, but you tend to eat poorly when you are starving. Snack throughout the day on fruit, nuts, veggies and anything else unprocced. Hope this helps. I will be tracting my weightloss as I continue to do these things as well. Remember: It took Nine months to gain the weight, so you won't loose it in two months!

I really need to remember that I didn't gain thirty pounds over night and that I can't expect it to fall off! Thanks!

I have a mommy and me workout video that I love. You do the exercises while holding the baby. Sometimes my older kids will grab a baby doll and work out with me. I do butt lifts, squats, calf raises, ect while doing dishes or cooking (or laundry, you get the idea). I also try to walk a mile or 2 every 2 days.
