A great way to keep physically fit or mentally on top of things when life gets too busy to get our scheduled workout in!
Theses aren't mandatory, but I CHALLENGE you to give them a try! They are so SHORT, why wouldn't you want to try these! We're talking a couple minutes short! I'm going to do them too!
These challenges are perfect to do RIGHT before bed! I'm telling you, just like brushing your teeth, if we start doing push-ups, or jumping jacks or whatever the challenge is RIGHT before bed, it will be a habit! A HEALTHY HABIT!
Do 10 push-ups before bed! You can do them from your knees if you have too! Don't give up! You can do it!

I live on the east coast of Canada and was already sleeping by the time the challenge was posted, so I did the challenge this morning. Had to do the push-ups on my knees but someday I hope to be able to do them the proper way! :happy:0

Dude- I can do pushups RARELY from my toes. I mean I try to do at least 1-2 of them that way, but arms have always been my eeeer, weakness! SO TO SPEAK! LOL Great job! These mini challenges are just for you to do morning or night! Whatever time you get to do them!
These mini challenges are just a way for you to realize that change happens one little day at a time! It doesn't matter when you do them! You could be waiting for water to boil and do your 10 situps! In fact, I encourage this! If you have children and they walk through the door from school ( I do realize it's Summer, so maybe from playing outside or something) perhaps you talk about the day with them and then all do 5 pushups together! I am a fan of anything that teaches children good habits!
When I first started doing push ups the first night of 10 was really hard! Then after 5 days, you add 5 more, and then after 10 days, 10 more and so on and so forth! It's amazing how fast the body will acclimate to this as if saying, "Oh it's bed time (or before breakfast), time to do pushups!"
Mini Challenge of the day/night/whenever:
If you did 10 push ups yesterday, do them again, but this time do at least 1 (only 1 even) from your toes! I recommend starting from your toes and then dropping... to ... your.... kneeeees....:noway: There, I just did mine! Your turn!0 -
Sounds like a plan! Tonight I will try to one on my toes. I just downloaded an e-book from the library called ``7 weeks to 100 push-ups``. I am not planning on doing that many but thought it might be good to learn more about proper form.0

ok push ups not my thing not very graceful, but i did them and then did 1/2 hr cardio since i was exercising anyway.
I love the wwii I can watch TV and exercise at the same time while at home with my little ones.0 -
I managed 5 from my toes although I did not make it all the way down. The rest were from my knees and they were so easy after the first five. My younger brother went thru the police academy and he was told to work on pushups. He did as many pushups as he could during every other commercial on tv. Within weeks he was over 200 at a time during class at the academy. He also passed this on to a buddy having a hard time preping for boot camp and it helped him too. May be 2 or 3 times a day just drop down and push out as many as you can, it will help.0

I was all settled in bed, but got up and did all 10 on my toes... I bet we are all stronger than we think!0

Wow! Great job you guys! 10 from your toes!?!?!? I can do them ,but like really slowly and not with the best form! LOL I did 5 and 5 tonight!
I think that these are a good thing to keep doing as a challenge. Just for a bit. I mean, let's see where we can get in another week or so.
Let's say starting Monday- we will do 15 push ups! You can do them any way you can get them done, but do at least 3 from your toes! They don't need to be all in a row either! Space those 3 from your toes throughout the 15!
An extra mini challenge for Sunday is to MONITOR YOUR WATER!
How many people are drinking enough water? You should drink roughly half your body weight in water and most people don't. Keep in mind if we exercise we are way more dehydrated and should replenish! Not only will drinking water help your workouts, your muscles, improve skin tone and helps with acne, but you will feel great and will definitely have a good glow! You will also be flushing toxins out of your body and helping to release any bloating you might have! So let's do it! Drink water and track it! This way, you know roughly how many glasses, bottles, sip cups or whatever, that you need on a regular day!
TIP- tea does not count as water. If there is caffeine in it, it will technically dehydrate you. My ND told me that for every cup of tea or coffee I drink, that I need to drink the same amount if not a few more ounces of water to even it out.... So WATER ONLY! Not Vitamin water, not propel, not coconut water (even though it's amazing) i'm talking, plain old filtered water. Or as pure as you can get it! If you need to or want to, add lemon and cucumbers in a pitcher and drink from it all day! It's delicious! You can also add citrus or berries!0 -

That's awesome! Water is seriously good for you! I bet you will notice a difference in your skin (although you have great skin in your pic! I mean GREAT!!!!) your energy levels and just how you feel in general! I love the push up challenge too! After all we ALL have a few minutes before bed to do them! Way to go! I will be doing mine tonight for sure!
Thanks Cycler! We'll keep with the pushups for awhile! I love pushups because they are everything. Core, arms, shoulders, back and even your legs if you are really pushing through your toes... For me, I'm on my knees for most of them , but one day, I will be all toes!0 -
I just did 15 walk out push-ups (on toes too). Anyone who's done Jillian will know what a walk-out push up is...harder and it burns more calories. I'm going to start doing 15 a day...then gradually increase them to up to 30 a day. Thanks for this challenge...it's just the extra kick I needed!
Today I did a 30 min. walk and 45 min. on my elliptical. Tomorrow I am planning to take a 50 min. walk and also do my Jillian dvd (a 35 min. workout). I joined a weekly calories burned challenge and my goal is to burn 3,500 calories this week!

I will try to consume way more water. Today I got in my 8 cups but I usually try to get 10-12 cups. I will shoot for 12 cups a day from now on.0 -
Err...pushups....I'll try; if not--I'll do wall pushups. I want to be able to do a pull up on the side of the pool. We do that move during one of my classes and I want to be able to lift myself up out of that water! GOAL is set to do that by August 27 (back to school, end of summer for kidlets).
Water--man, I've been slacking on this. No tea? EEK!!! Will increase the water!!0 -

I think I over did it on pushups yesterday! LO Between my workouts that have them in there and also the ones before bed, my shoulder blade was a little "iffy" this morning... Go figure I massaged it and stretched it out, did a low impact workout and now it feels better than it did before! LOL
KEEP UP WITH THOSE PUSH UPS! ARE YOU GUYS NOTICING IT GETTING EASIER!?!?!?!? Especially for those of you who started with 10?0 -

Okay so I want to re-open this thread! Are you still doing pushups before bed?
I think the new mini challenge is this- pick an exercise for the four nights to do before bed. This starts immediately! I am going to stick with push ups, only because my upper body needs work... however, here are some other things you could do:
jumping jacks, mountain climbers, jumping rope, leg lifts, tricep dips, pushups, tricep pushups, sun salutations, sit ups, balancing postures, superman bananas....
The goal is to keep moving forward and to keep doing something before bed to get the body used to wanting to workout!
