Why dont MFP people say goodbye?

Ok, so I know I'm being overly emotional and soppy here, but if someone is appearing in my feed on a daily basis for sometimes months/years (I've been here 2 years now) and I'm getting to know them either privately or in comments and they are supportive and jolly nice, I cant really understand why they just disappear, without a word!
I'm NOT taking it personally, I just think they had enough of the site and just decided to go, however........
I appreciate that some people just think we are all strangers and the internet is impersonal etc, but, personally, when I cease to want to be here anymore (if ever!!) I'd say goodbye to the peeps, and goodbye to the people on my FL. :flowerforyou:
Would you?

I know what you mean.
There's certain people that I played games and stuff with when I was a bit younger like online games and I played for hours on end with them, would talk to them over microphone etc some of them I knew better than friends that I had in person. Some of them just dissappeared one day without a word and I've never seen them since (email, microphone programs, games, sites)
There are 5/6 people that I'd love to hear about even now but I think it's just life. I've put it down to meeting someone new and not being anything like themselves when they were in all the time or what.
Still a shame because you get to know them a bit then they just dissappear.0 -
If I got to know them really well and they just disappeared, it would bother me a little. But I've only gotten to know 3 or 4 of my MFP friends off the site, and they know how to contact me if they want to stay in touch. But I wouldn't take it personally if they didn't. People change, their interests change, etc.0

Goodbye!
I'm fit and sexy, I don't need this website any more.
Most of the time when I vanish like this, it's to avoid a certain number of people that cause drama - and I unfortunately disappear for everyone (even the people I like), not just these people who are annoying to me.
Also, sometimes, you're just busy and think about coming back at some point, but as time passes, the idea of coming back becomes less and less attractive: you've moved on.0 -

I dont mean people off site. Those I can ring and see if they are ok. It's the one's that I dont have any other means of contact that have been around for a while. They just go poof and deactivate. Its happened a few times.......
Perhaps I need separation therapy !!! :laugh:0 -

I've had a few MFP poofers lately too and at least for a short time I do feel bad about their disappearance. But just like in dating, when they poof, you gotta say NEXT!0 -
speaking of disappearing. Where has La Amazona been? I haven't seen a post by her in at least a week.0

She's alive I've seen her posting on facebook. She's probably just out enjoying herself0

When I disappeared for a number of months, I just kind of faded away. I was like, "I got this..." but then I got a divorce and started going back into old habits. So I came back to MFP to get back on track. I don't log that much, but it is a daily reminder that I should be healthy. :P
I still had a few friends left when I got back that I recognized.0 -
I disappear when my depression/anxiety takes over. It's not personal, and it can actually become a source of anxiety of it's own ("What if they hate me now, I didn't mean to hurt their feelings! But I can't handle going back on AUGH")... Sometimes it's easier to just try and forget everything and move on.0

Really folks it's not personal, but when I fade away, it's due to mental struggles. If I find a program that suits me better, I might migrate, but that is down the road...0 -

Amazona is fine. I think she just wants some "me" time. She'll be back, don't worry.0
