So I had a mental block yesterday while doing squat cleans (or whatever they are called). I did way too much weight and had horrible form...it was terrible. Now my back is hurting on one side. What do i do?! I don't want to take time off!!

tell your coach - tell them what happened, what hurt - normally, at least where I go, they will give me modifications that will work for me, so I still get a workout.0

Sir, I have see few rookie's mistakes from your comment.
1) You do not know what it is called. I would assume that you haven't studied the lifting with the proper form to do the job. Huge mistake. That is where many people get injuried.
2) You put too much weights into your first time doing a lifting. Second huge mistake.
I hope you have learned your own valuable lesson to start new a lifting with light weight so you can train yourself to do it in the right form, and build your body's core to handle the desired weight. Always start with a light weight to ensure that you are doing it in the right form, and then you could add the weight to the point where it is being challenged. Please do not let your macho into your workout, it will injury you.
You'll definitely need to rest for few days. Resting is a part of workout to expand your strengths and muscles. If you don't rest then you won't produce anything.0 -
2 words: foam roller
2 pieces of advice: www.mobilitywod.com & always warm up with an empty bar.0 -

This is exactly what I was going to say.
Also, a lacrosse ball is your friend.0 -

I love that little lacross ball. funny how somehting so small can really dig in deep on those sore tight muscles.0 -
lacrosse ball is an evil torture device!:sick:0

Is that what kind of ball that is? They had me using it on my shoulder the other day... I think it goes into almost the same category of torture as the foam roller.0

I have done this lift multiple times...It is actually my favorite oly lift. I'm really bad at remembering all the names. It just has been a bit. My coach is always there helping me. I did warm up with an empty bar. I was really sore already so I probably should of not gone...but I love that lift. I think i was babying my sore legs which messed up my form.
I will try the foam rollers!! and I am taking today off. Maybe tomorrow...I'll for sure tell my coach so they can help me scale so I can still work out.
Thank yall.0 -
