I've been to the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, so I absolutely see the resemblence in this photo. My question is: how did that image appear on that tree? Does anyone know the story? It's very easy to carve images in wood, so that's a likely theory. I'll see if I can find more info on the story.

Popular piety is a wonderful thing because it makes us see God in all things. All I saw was a piece of wood surrounded by bark, but, like a cloud, if you see what your heart tells you to look for, what is wrong with that?0

Oh, I see God in all things. The "problem" I have with some of these is anyone making financial gain by scamming people.0

Well, there is scamming people, and then there is mocking them. Both are wrong.0

Agreed. I would never mock any of those people flocking there to witness the sight! It's their faith that has taken them there. I just don't like people who prey on the religious by pulling such stunts. I don't know that this is one, though. It may be real for all I know. I was just wanting to see what the people in our group thought of it.

I don't really see Our Lady of Guadalupe there. Her shape is about it. I don't have a problem with it as long as people are not selling things and making money. There are too many times that people are scammed. People are hungry for God and this just shows how they are searching.0
