I would suggest hitting u your phone book and looking for local consignment shops. We have a store here called Other Mother's and it is gently used children, maternity, and woman/teen clothing. I was able to get 2 pairs of Motherhood secret fit belly jeans for $5 each. They sell brand new for $50.
Also you might try online too. I have yet to find a perfect and inexpensive online store, but Motherhood tends to have BOGO sells on their clearance items. How I got my 2 tank tops!!! They also are having a buy 3 get 1 free on nursing bras.0 -
I went to Burlington this weekend and got a bunch of tops (including the one in my profile pic) for $8 each. They had tank tops, t-shirts, pants, shorts, everything really cheap. Target has some really cute maternity clothes too.0

I found a few pair of pants at goodwill, I think they were around $6. I also saw some cheaper ones at Burlington. I'm about to go to Rue 21 and get some more cheap shirts, they are usually 3-5, not maternity, but they are stretchy and long.0

I found some on the clearance rack at kohls. I also bought a few xl tshirts at old navy. After this girl pops out I can use them for art smocks with the kids. Also, yoga pants are my friend right now. Do you have a ross dress for less nearby?0

The price of maternity clothes is ridiculous, especially given the quality isn't the greatest. I don't have many options where I am (Canada - for new clothes we have Motherhood and Thyme, plus whatever small, very expensive, boutiques are around), but I hear US WalMart sells maternity clothes. Check out second hand stores, too. Try to stick with key pieces that can go with many different outfits, and don't worry if people see you in the same rotation of clothes week after week. Stretchy tops are the best, and ruching is amazing. I still have a few non-maternity tops with ruching that are working for me. Try to avoid anything silky as it won't stretch and you may out grow it before you get much use out of it.0

I forgot about Burlington! Great suggestion ladies! The one here doesn't have a large selection, but it is decent. I got a cute tank top (in profile pic) for $6 and some capris for $10. All new.0 -

Totally agree. I'm in SK and I've only had luck at Thyme maternity. I raid their discount racks and have had great luck there. I have had zero luck at motherhood and old navy. Old navy really dissapointed me here. There seems to be a pile of clothes for sale on kijiji (buy local/used website). There is a boutique here as well that everyone raves about but I can't bring myself to spend $125 on fancy maternity jeans. At work I just found that I mix and match a few bottoms with tops and that just has to do. Superstore has cheap non maternity clothes as well that will work, longer tops and yoga bottoms with wide waste bands. I never did splurge on a spring/summer maternity jacket. I wear one of my husband's or just throw a cardigan over top. Bathingsuits for lane swimming was as huge challenge as well. All the mat stores here sell only tankini's but those dont' really work for that type of swimming. I found a few on online but they were expensive and they make the suit out of nylon or spandex to accommodate your belly so the material distegrates rather quickly Good luck shopping!
oh ya......a few of my friends bought clothes at additionelle and penningtons plus size because the fit worked better for them.0 -

Totally agree about the price of maternity clothes.
You may be able to find some used on something like craigslist (not sure if they have that in Canada).
Also totally agree about rouching. I LOVE my rouched t-shirts and tops.0 -
I searched high and low for black work pants- took me forever! I'm tall and like to wear heels so they needed be longs. I finally splurged and bought a pair from Gap online. I love them and wear them at least 3x a week. I've also invested in some cute dresses that I'll be able to wear when I'm not pregnant.
Keep an eye out at Goodwill or garage sales. I found my favorite pair of shorts at a garage sale for $4. (I'm kicking myself for not buying the other 2 pair there) Old Navy had some tshirts on sale a few weeks ago for $8- the side-ruched ones.
Best of luck to you!!0 -

I also got some off the clearance rack at Kohls. I bought 6 tops for $20 total. They are too big for me right now, but will be perfect this fall. A friend has been having good luck at garage sales.0 -
I have had some luck at Ross. I didn't think I'd find anything there, but I have. I'm a clearance shopper normally so Ross is great for me. Our mall has nothing, nothing at BCF, our Target gets a cute thing every so often. I need to check out kohls and maybe I'll get lucky. So far it is yoga pants, 1 pair of shorts, and 1 pair of capri pants. All maternity shirts are like a tent on me right now so I'm sticking with extra long t-shirts bought 1 size big (2nd the Rue 21, I bought a few for less then $5 a piece) or layering a tank under it.0

I picked up a couple of maxi dresses from the Gap on summer clearance. Not maternity, but still fit the bump. Also hides my new swollen cellulite legs. Plus I don't have to worry about leg shaving as often
I'm trying not to buy much - just a few tanks, t-shirts, and some maternity jeans.
I've heard good stuff about Target and Old Navy, but I'm in Canada where we have nothing so my advice probably isn't solid.0 -
Closest "local" things are Walmart, Target, Old Navy. All about 60 miles away from where I live. Target is only store with any maternity wear, but Walmart has done well for me and being able to find $5 shirts few sizes larger than my pre-pregger size - most with a bit of side ruching! Also, local thrift store sometimes has some good finds - pants and shorts mostly. Good luck!0
