when i had my manic episode i hardly ate but ate all good stuff, so why, when im having depressive episodes am i going for junk food. its driving me insane. Next week is gonna be hard as my favourite chef will be in town and he cooks goulash for me and i love it. he helps me with what i eat and tells me off when he finds out ive had red meat.
i feel so guilty cos i have my willpower back but have just sat and eaten 2 packs of smartprice crisps and 6 choc digestives.

i think being in a low or depressive state makes you jsut wallow in bad feelings. and because of that you try to comfort yourself. bad food is comforting. you have to be mindful of what your doing. ask yourself if you really want that chocolate?, do you really need it?
there really is no secret, you jsut have to make mindful choices at ever meal. also, good medication and lots of exercise will really improve the mood.0 -
i do plenty of exercise when i am working. i walk around a hoopla for upto 6/7 hours a day on a weekend and 3/4 during the week. then there is walking to and from the shops everyday cos when im in the caravan i get fresh food everyday if i have the time to cook it.
next week though, i will be working close to home so i will prepare my meals and warm them up in my caravan as my boss it taking it to the ground for me. i am going out with all the lads on 2 occassions and am steering clear of alcohol.0 -
I agree that exercise always helps me. even if it is an extra 10 minute walk. sometimes that is all you can do, but I have a hard time eating healthy when having an episode as well0

same here but if I do eat, I find I've got more clarity and make sensible decisions.
Depression means chocolate, nuts, cheese, crisps, pizza. It's a sugar and salt comfort!0
