More annoying gym behaviours...

I just had to share this one, I thought you ladies might appreciate it.
On Friday I arrived at the gym and there was a guy using the squat rack. I asked him how many sets he had left, and he said 'I dunno, quite a few', so I said 'ok, will you give me a shout when youre done'. He replied 'well I'll be about 10-15 mins' and I said 'thats fine, just give me a shout' and started warming up, ignoring his clear arseyness.
He went back over to the rack and started doing fecking SHRUGS!!!!!! I almost went over and said 'no, no no no, NO! Shrugs!! Seriously, GTFO!!!' If you cant pick it up to shrug it, GTFO of the squat rack and go do some proper exercises.

My other favorite is people who do curls in the squat rack. With a preloaded bar. Uh, excuse me?0

People doing curls in the squat rack are particularly frustrating for me because we have a separate bench for curls. It's an odd looking bench, but it has it's own bar, it's own clips, it's own set of weights to load up with, and seriously, curls are the ONLY thing you can do on that set up. And yet there they are, The Bros, curling in my squat rack.
I've only seen one guy doing shrugs in the squat rack. With just the bar. Shrugging. Really? Couldn't make use of the multple rows of dumbbells?0 -
I really dislike the gym scene, so glad I have my own gym at home!0

I watched this bloke on Monday squatting - but outside the rack using the squat rack!
so he loads his bar, gets under it, walks four, five steps BACKWARDS out of the rack, balancing past the front posts of it and then squats in the middle of the gym floor :noway:
I was waiting for him to tip over or fail :ohwell:0 -

ROFL!!! This cracks me up!! I would love to say this to some big beefy guy (with tiny legs cause every day is upper body day, amIright?). I just had a vision of stomping over there, yelling the entire time at the guy, and chucking him out of the squat rack on his bony hind end!
BTW, it wasn't this guy, was it?

kldjalfkdsa one of my friends posted that picture on my FB wall last night. I cracked the hell up.
Second favorite: The guy at my gym who screams at and cusses out people who tell him to rack his weights. Even though there are signs everywhere telling you to rack your weights. I used to not be able to rerack 45lb plates, so this guy really pisses me off. Thankfully, I haven't seen him in awhile!0 -
I know I totally shouldn't care but it REALLY annoys me when I see girls doing countless reps with barbie dumbbells...I just want to scream from the top of my lungs YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME!....of course i mind my own business and keep my mouth shut but it still irks me. That and people cheating/using bad form to get more weight up....buddy, if you gotta lay back to get the lat pull down pulled down or yank your entire body to do that one armed row, the weight might be a little too heavy for you...smh!0

Teeeheehee, I love that picture!0 -
I'm reviving one of these because....
On monday, we were doing db bench press and rows (its our assistance exercises for bench press) and so we went over to use one of the benches.
Our gym has a wall with a mirror on the top 2/3, and then the bottom 1/3 is double row rack of dumbells ranging from 10 lbs to 100 lbs (its a BIG wall completely covered). Generally, you walk along the rack to find the weights you want then take them back to your bench - the benches are quite close to the racks but there is enough space for someone to use a bench and for someone to use the aisle to get weights AS LONG AS that person isn't standing in FRONT of the bench doing curls - there's not enough room for them to swing the weight up and for you to pass.
So most people either do standing curls BEHIND the bench, or to the side of the bench (or hey maybe once in a while someone will do curls without the mirror but almost NEVER because otherwise how can they be impressed with their biceps... I mean, check their form?)
Monday night, a guy was standing in the aisle doing curls with a curl bar (meaning he went and got it from the curl bar rack and brought it over there). On one trip to get weights, he was in between sets (just standing there admiring himself) so I walked past him. The second time he was in the middle of doing a set, so I walked past him while the bar was down and out of my way. He yelled 'excuse me" and then finished his curls and I thought "kay whatever bro, get out of the way if you don't want to be interrupted".
then some guys came over and asked if they could use the bench he was standing in front of and he told them no, so they went off to the side to wait. He continued to stand there, hogging both aisle space AND a bench he wasn't even sitting on to do standing curls. I was pretty shocked by how horrifyingly rude he was - I wish I'd been ruder. (Walking in front of him was slightly rude, but I could have done better. More angry faces and a returned "if you don't like it, get out of the way" maybe.)
In the meantime there were several people standing behind the benches so they could see themselves curling in the mirror. Its not like there isn't room. Maybe he cant' see himself from 8 feet away and he *had* to stand that close. The biceps weren't even anything special. I should have told him that too. *steams*0 -
There's a guy in my gym (pretty sure he's a teenager; I see more of them in summer now) that likes to do curls in the power cage. The ONE and only power cage/squat rack in the gym. I'm not talking heavy curls. I'm talking 10 lbs on each side curls. grrrrr.0

Curls in the squat rack make me want to cry.
Also, how hard is it to unrack and put your *kitten* away once you're done? :grumble:0 -

Yea, me neither.
Although once, we were waiting for the power cage. The guy finished and started to put his weights away. One side at a time. Seriously, he'd put one plate from the right side. Walk over to the left side, put a plate away. Walk back over to the right side, put another plate away. And so on. He had like 3 plates on each side. It was comical watching this. I wanted to tell him, "that's OK, we'll just put the plates away ourselves."0 -
Oh my god, I prolly would have lost my patience there. I don't have much of it to begin with but stuff like that drives me insane!
We had a guy like that at my old gym. He just left his stuff all over the place and walked away. Putting his towel and water bottle on benches while using other stuff, just sat on the benches texting, talking to his buddies or admiring himself in the mirrors... Let's say he was special.0 -

My question is what are his headphones plugged into?0 -
