Ladles and jellyspoons, the moment you've all been waiting for... it's time to unveil the results.
First of all - Classement Generale - Yellow Jersey time.
Calculated in a nice simple way - add up all the Km's done by the rider. As with all parts of this challenge, only GPS verified mileage has been taken into account for this "competitive" part of the challenge. Non-Verified rides HAVE been included in the "group totals" but any riders with non-verified rides have been exempted from podium positions.
in 3rd Position, with 964.32km - #306, hawkeyegal199
in 2nd Position, with 1061.29km - #304, amiller7x7
and our overall winner this year - with 1215.50km - #301, FatDadSlim.
(full details in a PDF file at http://www.mb-software.co.uk/MFP/MFP-TdF_2012_Final_GC.PDF )
Next, we come to the Green Jersey
Slightly more complex scoring here, it's actually based on the fastest average speed travelled by a rider, again - only GPS verified rides being eligeable.
And the winner of the Green Jersey is #316 - Cloggsy71, the only verified rider with an average of OVER 30kph for the entire challenge.
Full details of the Points Jersey here - http://www.mb-software.co.uk/MFP/MFP-TdF_2012_Final_Points.PDF
And Finally, the King of the Mountains Polka Dots.
Initially, I was torn as to which metric to use, either the actual number of metres climbed, or a factor of the number of kilometres ridded divided by the metres climbed, giving the "hillyness ratio" of the rides. In the end it was academic, as our leader not only climbed higher than everyone, he did it steeper too! A true King of the Mountains then.
And our winner is #301, FatDadSlim, climbing an astounding 14,291 metres (1.6x the height of Everest!!) at a rate of 11.76m per KM ridden.

I'd like to thank everyone for getting on board and having a go at this challenge - hopefully it's motivated one or two of you to get out there and ride when you'd have normally said "Nahhh, not today!"
I know i've enjoyed not only messing with the statistics (that's the Geek in me) but also looking at the GPS tracklogs of the places where some of you get to ride - it's fascinating the different terrains and areas we all get out there riding in.0 -
Thanks for all your work; it was a fun challenge. Congrats to all the riders for working the rides, and to the winners of the jerseys for their superior work.0
-
Thanks, TBY!
Anyone up for a Vuelta Challenge? I posted one last year (much simpler than this one, of course -riding on Vuelta days) but if TBY or someone else wants to do one like this, that would be cool!
Vuelta starts August 18th!0 -
Why Not, I've got the spreadsheet now - all the fancy stuff's worked out already - it's just a matter of dropping in the rider names and keeping the Km's etc up to date...0

Okay, it's Presentation Time
Green Jersey - Step forward Cloggsy71...
(you can rotate it the right way up yourself - if i'd have resized to fit MFP width's it'd have been a waste of time...)
King Of The Mountains - One for FatDadSlim, I reckon...
And while you're there - You may as well collect your Yellow Jersey too...
Sorry they're just "virtual jersey's" - couldn't find a Jersey Sponsor at short notice :laugh:0 -
Thanks to TBY for doing this - it was fun to do and I am amazed at how much data you had to crank through!! That was a big effort on all our behalf. It was nice to be on the podium....and there's always next year!!0

Congrats everyone!!! I had such fun and learned so much about cycling. Thanks to TBY for all his hard work and explanations to novices like me. You guys rule the hill!
