Your Zombies, run playlist

So, I have 2 playlists I cycle through when I play. Right now I'm using my zombies 2.1 playlist and zombies 1.0
1.0 is:
1979 - Smashing Pumpkins
A-Punk - Vampire Weekend
Born Slippy - Underworld
Mouth - Bush
Last Stop This Town - Eels
Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms
Golden Boy - Shelby

2.1 is:
All these things I hate - Bullet For My Valentine
Fake ID - Big and Rich
Yoshimi vs. The Pink robots - Flaming Lips
Kick Some *kitten* - Stroke 9
Gin and Juice - Phish
Talk Shows On Mute - Incubus
Stillframe - Trapt

I have some guilty pleasures in there (Fake ID), but I like th emix it feels as if someone wen ton the scrounge and found a mix tape from the early 2000's
I'm working on putting something else together when I get time but that's a secret side project ;)

So what are you listening to when running from an army of undead?

I dont have music on my phone yet, not until hubby decides to unpack our music drive from the boxes in the garage. Since we run from zombies together as a family, we talk between the storylines. but one day we'll have music on there, i cant imagine how boring it'd be if it was silent and i was doing it on my own.

Ive got your smashing pumpkins, your bush, your gin blossoms and your incubus on our music drive tho, might have to add those to my list when i can :)

Ill probably add in some P!nk, some Maroon 5, some Crazy Frog and maybe some Violent Femes.

I just download the Rock of Ages sound track from iTunes. There are some good jogging tracks in that. I have about 70 songs on my iPhone right and as I'm scrolling through it, I am finding I have a lot of Flo Rida. HA! I also like to jog to techno mixes. It helps me to have a lot of songs on my playlist so that I am not listening to the same songs each jog....especially since I jog 4 to 5 times a week.

Although, this heat is starting to get a little ridiculous. I'm in KS and the next 7 days are forecasted to be 100 days. Even my 5am jogs are rough because it's in the 80s. This morning it was 88 and I finally said screw it, I'll be doing the treadmill.
  • Right now, I'm using a new playlist I set up for my last 5K race:

    Muse - Assassin
Muse - Map of the Problematique
    Muse - Supermassive Black Hole
    Muse - Uprising
Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls
    Taio Cruz - Dynamite
    OneRepublic - Everybody Loves Me
The Cult - Fire Woman (The stinkin' zombies caught me today while I was listening to this one...bah!)
Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
Aly & AJ - Like Woah
Rihanna - Only Girl (In the World)
LMFAO - Sexy and I know it
    LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem
    Ke$ha - We R who We R
    Newsboys - God's Not Dead
    Kutless - Strongtower

    Yeah...I have a wide range there ;-)

I'm normally a hard rock chic, but my husband and I are big fans of the tv show Supernatural and he's built a "guitar rock" list based on music played on the show (yep, I'm a dork). It's pretty much perfect for the zombie run. I ran about 70 minutes today and here's what I listened to:

Midnight Rider - The Allman Brothers
You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet - Bachman-Turner Overdrive (cowbell)
Feel Like Makin' Love - Bad Company
Rock 'N Roll Fantasy - Bad Company
    The Stroke - Billy Squier
Don't Fear the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult (best zombie song)
Burnin' for You - Blue Oyster Cult
More Than a Feeling - Boston
    Peace of Mind - Boston
Foreplay / Long Time - Boston
    Juke Box Hero - Foreigner
    Hot Blooded - Foreigner
    Magic Man - Heart
    Crazy of You - Heart

The full playlist is twice as long, but this is as far as today's run took me.

Yesterday's run used my typical "adrenalin" list:

Rise Above - Chuck D. & Henry Rollins (Black Flag tribute)
    Bodies - Drowning Pool
    Blind - Korn
    Bombshell - Powerman 5000
Bulls on Parade - Rage Against the Machine
    Soul Crusher - White Zombie
    Powertrip - Monster Magnet
When Worlds Collide - Powerman 5000
Down With the Sickness - Disturbed
Feel So Numb - Rob Zombie
    Unsung - Helmet
    Dig - Mudvayne
    Boom - P.O.D.
    Space Lord - Monster Magnet
    Song 2 - Blur

I need a better playlist. I hardly download music. But I had a good laugh when it played Adam Sandler's Thanksgiving song for me while running from zombies.

Ha, love Casting Crowns ... building 429, Matt Redman, Kim Walker, Hillsong, all make my list ... sorta odd to run to those songs but it is pretty awesome all the same :)

Oh yeah! I could totally run to this! Mine is old-school as well, but alas, so am I! I shuffle an eclectic mix:

    ACDC Back in Black
    ACDC- TNT
    ACDC Thunderstruck
Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall
    Lady Gaga - Bad Romance
    Ram Jam - Black Betty
Lynyrd Skynyrd- Call Me the Breeze
    Ozzy - Crazy Train
    Rob Zombie - Dragula
Nazareth - Hair of the Dog
Black Crowes - Hard to Handle
Bon Jovi - Have a Nice Day
    Don Felder - Heavy Metal
    Seger - Her Strut
Bon Jovi - It's My Life
    ACDC - The Jack
    Black Crowes - Jealous Again
    Seger - Katmandu
    Christina Aguilera- Lady Marmalade
    ZZ Top - Legs
Rob Zombie - Living Dead Girl
    Sammy Hagar - Mas Tequila
Guns N Roses - Paradise City
    Lady Gaga - Poker Face
    ACDC - Problem Child
    Golden Earring - Radar Love
    Styx - Renegade
    Nickleback - Rockstar
Van Halen - Running with the Devil
Judas Priest - You've Got Another Think Comin'

I may never get to hear them all. And it's totally creepy to hear the lead-in to a Floyd track in the middle of this story, just sayin'!

So, I am in to happy, upbeat music so my playlist reflects that.
But it still had to be appropriate for running from zombies!
I am all about being immersed in the atmosphere.

So here is my happy perky zombie playlist.

    Highway to Hell -ACDC
Dead on Arrival - Fall Out Boy
Don't Fear the Reaper- Blue Oyster Cult
    Harder to Breathe- Maroon 5
    Hazard to Myself - Pink
Holding Out for a Hero- Bonnie Tyler
I Get Knocked Down - Chumbawamba
    I Will Survive- Gloria Gaynor
    Love Me Dead- Ludo
Re: Your Brains - Jonathan Coulton (Possibly the best zombie song...EVER!)
Sugar, We're Going Down - Fall Out Boy
Walk like a Zombie - HorrorPops
The Zombie Song - Stephanie Mabey (and this is a close second for the best ever)
Zombies ate my Neighbors- Single File
Zombies on your Lawn - Laura Shigihara
    Zombie - Natalia Kills
    Toxic- Britney Spears
Pump it - Black Eyed Peas
No Brains For You, Zombie! - BrySi
    Little Runaway - Bon Jovi
Bite You - Kimmi Smiles (She has two zombie parody songs that are awesome, this one...)
I'll make a Zombie Slayer Out of You - Kimmi Smiles (...and this one)
The One that Got Away (zombie parody) - Winter Spring Pro
    Zombie Jamboree - Rockapella
Never Look Back - The Nearly Deads (the video is practically an advertisement for zombies, run!)
    Zombie - The pretty Reckless
    Thriller/Heads will roll -Glee Cast
    Brains Stew - Green Day

I also have a couple of songs I enjoy running to that have nothing to do with anything zombie related and are just in there to pad my list a bit...I left them out to avoid confusing anyone.

If anyone thinks I missed any upbeat zombie songs feel free to tell me what they are...I always need more, I mean who doesn't!

I've got this odd mix of comedy and rock songs, with Elton John thrown in there for flavor. But none of them are slow songs, cause that would slow me down. I think I need some Beastie Boys.

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life - Monty Python
Angry White Boy Polka - Weird Al
    B!tches - Mindless Self Indulgence
    B.Y.O.B. - System of a Down
Chop Suey - System of a Down
    Click Click Boom - Saliva
    Crocodile Rock - Elton John
    Empty Walls - Serj Tankian
Freak on a Leash - KoRn
    Heroes - Shinedown
    I don't wanna Stop - Ozzy
I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor
I'll Make a Man Out of You - Mulan
    I'm a Believer - Smashmouth
Let the Bodies Hit the Floor - Drowning Pool
Men in Tights - Robin Hood, Men in Tights
    Nooke - Limp Bizkit
Only You - Captain Jack (DDR)
Pretty Fly for a Rabbi - Weird Al
She Hates me - Puddle of Mudd
Sky is Over - Serj Tankian
    Still Alive - Portal
White and Nerdy - Weird Al

Woo hoo, another JoCo fan! Hello! I also have Sticking it to Myself and Sucker Punch (both from his new album, Artificial Heart) in my ZR playlist.

You all are forgetting my favorite song for running from zombies: It's the End of the World as We Know It by R.E.M. I'm actually quite disappointed when I don't get chased during this song. Bonus that it has a pretty good beat, also.

Hi! New here, just started week 1 day 1 yesterday so I haven't gotten my playlist fixed yet but atm, here's a list for shuffling.

Fall Out Boy - Infinity on High
Ludo - I forgot the name of the CD but it's the one with Love me Dead
    Chevelle
    Saliva

I'm going to add Coheed tonight, thanks for mentioning it whoever suggested that one.

Ok, now that I'm home, I can post my full playlist:

Broken - Lifehouse (how I imagine I'd feel if my family was dead and I was a runner at Abel)
I'll be Waiting - Michael Franti (listen to this and tell me you don't think of Sam, especially after A Run in the Dark)
    Numb - Linkin Park
Sticking it to Myself - Jonathan Coulton
    Sucker Punch - Jonathan Coulton
Time of Dying - Three Days Grace
    Viva la Vida - Coldplay
What I've Done - Linkin Park
It's the End of the World as we Know It - R.E.M. (come on, perfect zombie apocalypse song)
Red Shirt - Jonathan Coulton (written for a book loosely based on the red shirts in Star Trak and their death tolls, good song for when you are being sent out into almost certain death)
    Radioactive - Imagine Dragons
    Scars - Papa Roach

Yes, despite my previous post, I don't have Re: Your Brains in my ZR play list. I find the pace a little too slow for me to really get moving to. Still a great song though!

You've just explained the biggest reason I do NOT share my workouts on any social media platform. Ever. I would never hear the end of some of the songs I listen to.

LOL! I have so much awesomely embarrassing music on my playlist. I love it. Every time "Supermodel" off the Clueless soundtrack comes on, I swear I run faster.
