Garmin not syncing with My Fitness Pal

I have had my Garmin Vivofit for almost a year and finally got it to sync with My Fitness Pal but my calories and steps do not automatically sync from the Garmin to the MFP. I have to create an exercise at the end of the day called "steps" and add the calories in that way
