Walking is great! I lost over 70 pounds just counting calories and walking. I used FitBit to take care of the calorie adjustments but generally ate about half back. After I got to a lower weight, I even started running and lifting weights. Just start by doing whatever you like and see where it takes you!

Whichever one you like the most. Consistency is the most important. Even if one of them burned twice as many calories per hour, it wouldn't matter if you never used it because you hated it. And of course, you still need a calorie deficit.

Maybe try figuring out WHY you think you need to gorge on it. I know for me, part of my issue was a feeling I might not get to have this again so I must eat as much as I can now. It wasn't rational, but I think it came from growing up with a mom who went on a health food kick and banned sweets from the house. I can still…

I "Treadflix" almost every night. Can't sit down to watch TV anymore. I immediately fall asleep.

So are you looking for high protein or low carb? Cottage cheese is commonly served as a side dish where I'm from. Maybe deviled eggs. Or add a bit more fat to your veggies to make more filling, like a bit of olive oil, parmesan cheese, or butter.

I like blending with ice. But usually shakes just don't fill me up so I add my protein powder to oatmeal or yogurt and eat it that way.

I feel your pain. I love the bake but had to cut back drastically. I can turn down a grocery store cookie or boxed mix cake any day of the week, but scratch-made goodies are my kryptonite. I still make something once a week or so for the kids and always make homemade goodies for work events. I have also been attempting a…

If it's working for you, then go for it. But they have calories, so if you find yourself not losing at the rate you expected don't be surprised.

You can use the recipe builder if the ingredient amounts stay the same most of the time. If it's for something that's a single serving and I change the ingredient amounts fairly often, I often save the individual ingredients as a "Meal". Then I can quickly add all of the ingredients at once and just adjust the individual…

What's your goal? It it's weight loss, pick the one that has fewest calories. If calories are the same, pick the one you like the most.

What they said ^^^^. And in addition to their suggestions, a pair of running shoes is pretty darn compact and suitable for any experience level.

Has anyone tried making quark? My first attempt was a failure. Thinking about trying quark again with some of the tips in this thread. Or maybe I'll do Skyr instead. And does anyone know how to figure out the macros, or do you just use the standard USDA macros?

Most steak or chicken tacos run in the 200 cal each range as long as they aren't loaded with cheese, sour cream or guac. Shrimp or fish is a good option, also. My go-to at a local place is actually an appetizer - shrimp ceviche tostada. Their version is pretty much shrimp, avocado and onion dressed in a lime-cilatro…

Some people find protein shakes filling, I don't. But I do like protein powder to add to things like oatmeal. Since you like peanut butter, you can try peanut butter powder. Much lower in calories. There are several on the market, PB2 is popular. Jif also makes one. You can also try substituting some higher protein…

I keep a fruit bowl on my desk. Usually just a couple apples or mandarin oranges along with a few small ghiradelli chocolate squares. Mostly for me, but occasionally a coworker takes a piece. I make sure to bring home anything left on Friday so it doesn't sit all weekend. If you're concerned about dirty hands, you can put…

I was in the exact same situation as you less than 2 years ago. At age 42 I just wanted to say I'd run an entire mile one time in my life. Now I run 20-25 miles in a slow week and even ran a half marathon last summer! Start with an interval program like C25K and go SLOW. If your chest hurts and you can't breathe you're…

LOL! My dogs do the same! (I only skip the yolk so I can save my calories for more CHEESE!)

One thing that might keep you on track would be to go ahead and allow yourself ONE treat when grocery shopping instead of trying to avoid them altogether. Choose something that comes in a single serving and really take your time and ENJOY eating it. This might keep you from feeling deprived and going off the deep end when…

Outstanding story! Love hearing insights on maintenance - it's a very under-appreciated subject. I'm currently on day 925. When I first started all of this, I thought logging would be temporary. Just something I'd do until I got a better idea of portion sizes. But it has become a habit, just like prepping my lunch before I…

AMAZING post! I learned most of those same lessons, myself! Once I decided to do what worked for me I was amazed at how far I could go.

If you like coconut try Almond Bliss Oh Yeah! One bars. They are amazing! Taste even better than an almond joy bar.

Not really low carb, but oat bran is higher in fiber, making it slightly lower in net carbs if you want to try that.

Here's a few examples of what doing all that "manly" stuff does to your body: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/977538/halp-heavy-lifting-made-me-supah-bulky/p1

As mentioned by others, lean cuts are not the best option for the crock pot. Boneless skinless chicken breast and boneless pork loin in particular. I have never been able to cook those properly in the crock pot unless I the time is so short I might as well have used the oven. Use a shorter cooking time or use cuts like…

When I tucked into a bag of mini Reeses cups or chex mix I knew I was eating a crap ton of calories. What killed me was finding out how much all the little bites, licks and nibbles I took when I was trying to be "good" added up. Ended up being more calories than if I had taken one whole cookie or a full serving of the…

Thanks so much for this recipe! It's WONDERFUL! I started with the original recipe and it was PERFECT (except for me messing up and putting in too much xantham gum, totally my mistake). Only made a couple mods to use what I had on hand. Fairlife 2% milk instead of regular 2% milk and a little extra sweetener & vanilla…

I usually use them in Asian dishes. Just rinse then dry fry like previously mentioned. I did try a fake alfredo that wasn't too bad. I rinsed & fried, then added chopped broccoli, leftover rotisserie chicken and a couple of the Aldi garlic & herb cheese wedges (like Laughing Cow).Need to tweak the sauce a bit next time,…

I microwave whatever I want, including plenty of fish and broccoli. Often at the same time. It's a lunch room, it's going to smell like food. If the microwaves were in the work area where people were forced to be around I might be more considerate. The only exception is popcorn. Big "NO POPCORN" signs on all the microwaves…

I love both. I love what lifting does for my body. And I love what running does for my mind & mood. Can't imagine a life without either!

Yum! I know what I'm doing with the leftovers from my next batch of jambalaya!
