Thanks for the ideas! I've done similar with plastic containers, but I got some steamer bags to use for the next batch. I like being able to control the calories and macros. Most frozen meals are too low in protein and don't have nearly enough veggies. To keep it simple I used frozen veg, pre-cooked seasoned quinoa/kale…

Victoria's Secret leggings give me the best shape - especially for my bottom. Old Navy works pretty well, too.

Don't skip the middle, there's awesome stuff there, too! They have the best prices on dried beans and the basmati rice is fantastic. They also have great deals on dried fruits and nuts and canned beans and veggies, oatmeal, and even gluten free items that I keep around for when my son's celiac friend visits.

Sounds like you are eating all the right stuff, you might just need to tweak a little to find foods that have higher protein ratios for your calories. Maybe egg whites with your whole eggs or use plain greek yogurt and add your own fruit & sweeteners to have higher protein to calorie ratio than premixed yogurts. I found an…

Yup. My iPhone 5 would die when I had it in my jacket pocket or arm band and it was below 25f or so. I had to keep it next to my skin on cold runs until I got a FlipBelt. I haven't had that problem with my 7, but I always have it in my FlipBelt. That keeps it close enough to keep it warm even on single digit runs.

I gotta go show this to my friend who volunteers at an area hospital. She drives patients in for appointments, including cancer treatments. She needs to know her Amish patients are obviously frauds, because real Amish don't get sick! That's freaking HILARIOUS! Thanks, I was having a rough day and really needed the laugh :D

I saw some Protein20 at the store the other day and tried a couple flavors just out of curiosity. 15g protein, no carbs, 60 cals in coconut flavor, 70 cals in sour cherry. $1.99 for a 16.9 oz bottle. Nice flavor, a little pricey for protein, but not too bad considering a diet soda at the convenience store will set you back…

This. And most of those essential oils are pretty worthless, and many are actually quite irritating to your skin. http://www.paulaschoice.com/cosmetic-ingredient-dictionary/definition/lavender-extract-and-oil

Look at the nutrition info to see how many servings there are in the package. Or choose "whole package" as serving size and choose .25 for number of servings.

The only reason I even tried C25K at age 43 was because I had just lost over 80 pounds and wanted to see if just once in my life I could run an entire mile. Those PE fitness tests were still haunting me 20+ years later. Turns out, I can run a mile. I can run 13.2 miles. I can run 20+miles a week... for FUN! I too, often…

You can also make a main dish that can be "repurposed" throughout the week if you don't want to eat the same thing over and over. Roast chicken is great for that. I often make a roast chicken (or two-because teen boys) then use the leftovers for a chicken pot pie another night, and chicken soup or chili with the stock from…

Lets see... my shopping list usually includes some combination of these things: Produce:* Berries * Spinach * French Green Beans * Sugar Snap Peas * Broccoli * Cauliflower Meat/Dairy:* Black Forest Ham * Herb Turkey Breast * Milk * Fage Greek Yogurt * Finlandia Cheese Slices * Cheese Tortellini * Shredded Cheddar Jack…

Unsweetened almond or coconut milks are my favorites. They only have 25-30 calories a cup, but you also don't get nearly as much protein as milk if that is something that is important to you. Watch the calories on those almond or coconut creamers- most of them have as many calories as regular creamers and way more calories…

I'm the same way. If I have fruit for a snack I have to pair it with a protein like Greek yogurt or cheese to make it remotely satisfying.

Diet soda is a great one for me. Especially if I'm craving sweets for an afternoon pick-me-up. Sour candies and mints like Ice Breakers or sugar free gums often hit the spot also. They're only 2 calories each and the strong flavor makes them more satisfying for me.

The current "serving size" is based on what the USDA & FDA tells the manufacturers a typical serving should be (called the Reference Amounts Customarily Consumed) The USDA bases it on averages from surveys done several decades ago and is currently updating it. http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm386203.htm

I heard Penn talk about his weight loss on his podcast. He was on a medically-supervised diet because his blood pressure was so out of control that he had to be hospitalized and put on several medications. He didn't go on this diet to look better, he was treating a life-threatening medical condition.

Except FitBit completely lacks the at the one thing that is most important to me - built-in GPS. Phone-based gps is piss-poor at pacing and completely worthless if your workouts take place in areas that have poor or existent cellular coverage. No amount of "ecosystem" can make up for that.

Small changes and big results don't have to be mutually exclusive. Start with the changes that make the biggest impact to get bigger results, then add in the less impactful changes as you progress. Eric Helms nutritional pyramid is a great starting place: Calories>macronutrients>micronutrients>meal…

I like to add some chopped green onions, diced bell pepper and Walden Farms Sesame Ginger dressing. A few dashes of sriracha and you have a tasty asian tuna salad.

Have you tried Kodiak Power Cake flapjack mix? I've mixed 50g the chocolate flavor mix in a mug with 50g egg white, 100g greek yogurt, about 3 pkts splenda and a few chocolate chips then cooked in the microwave about 2-3 minutes on 50% power and it made a nice little cake for about 300cal and 25g protein.

Sanders Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels. 70 calories per rich, creamy, luscious square - and only $9 for a huge jar of them at Costco.

I hear you OP. I've been missing my lunch walk lately. Umbrellas are great! Unless it's windy. Then they're even worse than worthless. I still haven't been able to find any fun in walking or running in the rain unless it's a little sprinkle, with no wind, on a warmish day. This has happened a grand total of one time in the…

Berries Cucumber slices Light Mozz Cheese sticks with turkey pepperoni slices Packets of Cup O' Noodle or Instant Miso soup that you just add hot water Freeze-dried fruit, peaches are my favorite For a chocolate fix, dark choc covered espresso beans (a few is very satisfying)

Another vote for the Bolthouse yogurt dressings. Even my husband loves the blue cheese, and he's picky about which brand of saltine crackers I buy. The Panera light poppyseed is also really good. I especially like it on spinach/berry salads and cabbage or broccoli slaw with apples and cranberries.

Here's how it broke down for me: Sizes 16 to 14 & 14 to 12 US: 30 pounds each size Size 12 to 10: 20 pounds Size 10 to 8: 10 pounds Size 8 to 6: 5 pounds (with weight training) Think of the weight like the layers of paper towel on the roll. When the roll is still large, it takes more sheets to go around the roll. As the…

How strange it is to be around people who didn't know you when you were overweight. I started a new job after losing 90 pounds. When I went out for a department lunch several commented on how amazing it was that someone so "tiny" could eat so much food (it was a SALAD people!) and how nice it must be to have a "fast…

That's very similar to my recipe, which come out to about 166 cals per 100g (using light sour cream and without noodles). Have you used the recipe builder tool? It can be a bit time consuming at first, but once you have a bunch of recipes built is quite a time saver and far more accurate than random entries from the…
