We are not being conned. Every MFP user has the ability to create database entries, so you have to pay attention to which ones you pick.

Depends what you're wanting it to do. If you want to supplement your protein intake, then yes, it will likely do that, as will any one of hundreds of similar products on the market. If you want to lose/gain weight, then no, only a calorie deficit/surplus will do that.

I guess I don't understand how they could make someone gain weight. Weight gain requires excess calories in over calories out. That's the cold hard fact of weight gain. I get that meds can cause water retention etc, but unless the pills somehow metabolise into a large amount of calories, how could they cause a fat gain? Is…

Being from New Zealand, I do this too. But I've found that I've actually started thinking in pounds now as I'm so used to seeing it all over MFP and a lot of the calculations need converting from kg to lbs.

Anxiety meds will not make you gain weight if you monitor yourself closely. They can increase your appetite though, so just be careful. I'm on seroquel and aropax (with occassional clonazepam on the side) for anxiety/panic disorders, and am successfully losing. I honestly couldn't tell you if I gained weight when I first…

I have to admit that this is partial motivation behind losing weight and getting fit.... Rule number 1....
-
Yep, this. One of my bosses lost a ton of weight over a couple of years, but no one really noticed until a few weeks ago when we were looking at old photos. All of a sudden everyone was talking about how awesome he looked now compared to then.

Wonder what sort of "dudes" Op is hanging out with. You sure as hell don't look like any I've dated...

I want the weight gone more than I want to be a glutton. That is how I can stop at one.
-
I'm sorry, but any page headed up with "30-second Daily Trick Flattens Your Belly" I instantly think "scam" and close the page. That is not "research", and I'm not wasting my time.

Aw, sweetheart. I understand what's driving you, but unless your Dad feels driven, he's not going to do it. I started my weight loss at 364lbs. Telling myself (and having others tell me) that I needed to get healthy so I could be around for my daughter made logical sense, but there was always the voice in my head saying…

I believe OP put her activity level as "very active" which gave her around 1,800. But yeah, 20 pounds per month is not realistic. I'm currently 321lbs (down from 364), and I'm currently losing at a 10lb per month rate. I can't imagine someone half my size trying to double that rate, not while staying healthy.
-
^This I always blamed lacked of willpower too. Until I realised that I wanted to be a healthy weight, and be there for my daughter, far more than I wanted a moment of gluttony. Now I eat what I want, in reasonable portions, and as they fit in to my daily calorie goals.

Which "weight loss experts"? Have you got research you can link us to?
-
Well done, OP! That must feel awesome.

At 10 kilos I bought a whole lot of foot pampering products as I figured my tootsies needed some love after hauling my lard *kitten* around. Just hit 20 kilos and am booked in for a tattoo next Wednesday - it's actually to celebrate giving up a pack a day smoking habit three years ago, but it's taken this long to get the…

Yep. I've lost 20kgs in just under 15 weeks, and I'm eating at a decent calorie level. Unlimited anything would definitely screw things up.
-
Oh dear. Not again. Look everyone! Pretty butterflies!
-
Tuning in from New Zealand- trust me, it's not just American's who eat too much.
-
That sounds like a sales pitch...
-
The vet has just put my daughter's cat on a diet.... so now I'm weighing his food too.... that's starting to get some strange looks.
-
*sigh* I did try yesterday. Honestly I did.
-
Sorry, OP. I've got nothing really constructive here, love my chocolate too much to give it up
-
Hiya I'm also on quetiapine and aropax for anxiety disorder. To be completely honest, I wasn't tracking my weight around the time I started on them, was far more concerned with getting the daily panic attacks under control than worrying about my lard *kitten* Have been taking that particular cocktail since January…

I spend around $150-$200 on groceries per week to cover myself, my 10 year old daughter, and her two feline bottomless pits. That includes all food items, personal care, cleaning, pet care etc. Some weeks are higher than others as I tend to buy pantry items and meat in bulk, so one week might be as high as $300+, but the…

My doctor has all the info from when a ****ton of tests were done, freaking hours of them, drinking horrible concoctions etc, copious amounts of blood drawn, weird machiny thingamabobs. I'm an accountant, I know numbers, I trust my doctor to know her *kitten* when she tells me I'm not insulin resistant. Let's not derail…
-
I'm way heavier than either of you, and am NOT insulin resistant. If Op is at all concerned about this, he should see his doctor. Honestly, until Op has his logging sorted, he should be focusing on CICO. Once he's got that sorted, then macros can come in to it.
-
You're seriously suggesting that a 6'3", 252lb guy only requires 1,200 calories per day? I would love to see your sources on that. Op, please ignore this.
-
Oh, yeah, "cups" is fairly useless. I measure using mls. And for the record, I don't Op is American (picking he's a Brit), and I'm a Kiwi, so I think we're all good
-
OK, I think your calorie goal is fine - I'm no expert though, but just popping your stats in to a calculator it looks about right. However, your logging is all over the place. Looking back in your diary, you have a number of days with no logging at all, and a lot where it appears you've only partially logged your food for…
