  • I am 5'1.5". When I first started on MFP I was making the same comments myself as seemed like so many people where on so many more calories than me. Over about 5 months I lost 18lbs using MFP - it was very slow, my calories were 1200 (ie. lowest MFP will go). I was exercising though - using Fitbit which gave me extra…
  • @SummerSkier I have very similar stats to you. My goal was 110, but now I've hit that I've set it to 105. I aim to have a maintenance range of 105-110 - which I think is realistic. Interesting that you are just under 100 (I converted it, always having to convert lbs to kgs when I'm here), but I was about 99 lbs when I…
  • @middlehaitch I've seen you on here before and had noted that your stats were quite similar to mine. Just read your profile and it gives me real motivation to keep with the maintenance and try not to let it slip again. I love travelling too and like to be active so your story really resonated with me. It was really…
  • @Christine_72 it's nice to know I'm not alone in this food scale/family thing - my husband and 2 boys are used to it now, but I don't really like to reveal it to others. @fiddletime that sounds very like me at the moment I do tend to go over on the weekends so during the week I have to be careful, in maintenance I will…
  • The people staying with us over Christmas are the parent-inlaws (not sure how many days yet), but it's quite hard to weigh the food all the time and not be too conspicuous (the food scale usually sits on the bench where I prepare and serve food). Also needless to say a few drinks will be required over this time  -…
  • Thanks for the responses it does make sense to have a range and I think for me it will be 105-110. To put this in perspective I'm only 5'1.5'' (53, female) so if I was to not exercise 1200 calories would be my limit. Fortunately I do exercise at least an hour each day - walking or gym (includes elliptical, circuit classes…
  • In Aus it's $10 for 473ml, sometimes on special at Woolies for $8. They have 4 flavours: mint choc chip, chocolate, vanilla bean and Birthday Cake (I don't know what that flavour is supposed to be). Anyway I tried the chocolate, maybe it was a bad choice, but it tasted like cardboard (not that I really know what cardboard…
  • Thank you for sharing. I think you are probably at about the right calories. I am only a little taller than you and my reality is that I can only eat 1200 calories per day. Even when I reach maintenance I will still be at 1200, but maybe I can eat more of my exercise calories back (but it will be trial and error). The only…
  • We don't know the weight or height of Katherine do we? For some of us 1200 calories is all we can have per day, even if only losing .5lbs per week. So saying it's aggressive is not helpful. The only way I get to eat more each day is by exercising and not eating back all the calories (if I want to lose).
  • Hi Darla, you sound very similar to me. I am the same age, 5'1.5" and 119 lbs - I would like to be 110 lbs (started at 124.5 - this time). It doesn't sound like much but at this height and weight very difficult. I have lost 5.5lbs in the last 5 weeks, but I know from previous experience that this is only how it is in the…
  • Hi Darla, I just replied to your post, but seems I lost it. I was just replying to say I'm in a really similar situation. Same age, 5'1.5", 117 lbs ( I would ideally like to be 110 lbs). I've been back on MFP for 5 weeks now and have lost 5 lbs, but I know after this initial period that I will probably drop to hardly any…
  • Thanks @middlehaitch it is great to hear such a similar story to mine. What I didn't say above was that I did go down to 100 Ibs 5 years ago, I was on 1200 calories/day, 12wbt diet (for those Australians who may know this 'lifestyle'). After reaching my goal I did go back up to 110 lbs and I was still quite happy with…
  • I am 5'1.5, 124 lbs and 53 yrs old. This thread really resonates with me. I was on MFP a couple of years ago and have just come back to it, ideally I would like to get to 105-110 lbs. I have found that I can only be 1200 calories /day to even lose very slowly. I too have a very tall husband (and two teenage boys), it seems…
