I just re entered OA last Saturday. I needed to truly feel the powerlessness before I could make myself go. I have made my abstinence very simple for now. I abstain from compulsive overeating, gluten and sugar. It includes a plan of eating. My plan of eating is three meals and two snacks. A meal being 1 plate of food. I am…

I eat up to 150 grams of carb/day but usually fall closer to 100. Because I follow a loose paleolithic template, I eat safe starches. Potatoes and white rice are okay. No gluten grains, no sugar. I do have beans occasionally as well, hence the "loose" description. I have found that sticking to healthier carbs is best for…

Interesting, Someone flagged my post as spam.

The mood changes do not happen when I eat moderate carb levels of healthy food or am eating high carb junk food for that matter. I only experience the mood issues when I am strictly very low carb. I have years of low carb experience and the same thing always occurs.

CMYKRGB, The WOE is different for most low carbers because instead of staying steadily at a carb level under 50, you spend several days under 30, then do several days closer to 100 grams of carb. ladipoet and Dragonwolf, The negative effects for me start after several months of ketogenic eating. I begin to have episodes of…

I have the fitbit charge, wish I had charge HR. I mostly love it. Hate charging it, wish it looked more like a watch and have accidentally worn it into the shower several times. This leads to a very comical scene in which I screech, whip off the fitbit, fumble and drop it on the bathmat, grab it, reach for the towel and…

It looks delicious. :) and a lot like how I eat. I do not see any glaring problems. How long have you been low carb? Your profile says 23 pounds lost. That sounds good to me. Could it be female issues? Are you taking measurements? The scale is only one indicator of success. Good Luck!

My husband is an overnight RN. In addition to dinner, He packs a snack tray that includes his favorite low carb portable foods. Hard boiled eggs, hard cheese, pepperoni or salami, olives, celery with almond or sun butter, pork rinds, low sugar jerky, nuts etc. That way he can say no to temptation.

How Exciting!

I just checked out the new ketonix. That is very different. I have the sport. There is no software involved. I hope you figure it out.

You may already know this much but the colors mean something. Blue-Not in ketosis, Green- low level ketosis, Yellow- moderate, Red- deep ketosis. The more blinks you have, the higher your ketosis level. (Green 5 blinks is higher than Green 2) Green 1 blink is supposed to equate to .5 mmol. I will try to link PatchEFog's…

I guess I have an older ketonix. Mine changes color and blinks. So I don't think I can help. There was a member here (PatchEFog) who compared the color and blinks with results from her blood monitor. I have found it helpful.

Your post was fine. I think your last line should be your first in a new thread. You may also want to tell a little about yourself when you set up your motivation/challenge group thread. For example, I love your user name and am assuming you are a man, but I could be wrong. :) I am a female also heading towards 50. I am a…

If people can find us without difficulty, keep it private. I joined before the drama. The only difference I see before and after is a distinct lack of complaints about the main forum; which is a part of following the rules regardless of whether we are public or private. : )

jbarnes Why not try a week long experiment without AS? If you lose weight it might indicate that they are a problem for you. I do better with cravings and weight loss without added sweeteners.

Great info Cheesy. I am on 13 mg coumadin per day for a blood clotting disorder. I survived Pulmonary Emboli in 2010. The dose could be lower if I chose not to eat vitamin K foods. Considering the vitamin k needs of the body, I just can't.
-
The doctors should adjust the medication for your friend. In this particular case though with the lower inr number, the med level would have to be raised, not lowered. A lower inr number means thicker blood not thinner. My doctors willingly change my med dose if needed.
-
I am also on coumadin. If she increased her green leafy vegetables when starting low carb, then that would likely be the culprit. However, she could choose other vegetables with less clotting effect and still do low carb. I keep my green leafy vegetable intake steady. Oddly, low carb tends to make my inr go up ( thinner…

The worry is that I can't seem to get a straight answer. Is coumadin preventing the k2 in my food from doing it's job? Can I safely supplement k2? My docs say no. I have also heard that long term Coumadin therapy contributes to plaque build up. Is this because it blocks k2 as well as k1? Unfortunately, going without blood…
-
I just need to say that this need for vitamin K to stop plaque build up scares me. I am on Coumadin for life due to past pulmonary emboli and a family history. Coumadin blocks the action of vitamin K in the body. Sorry, just venting. I worry every time I see this topic come up.

Monday report. Bad weekend. 3 days of bingeing.

Making some adjustments: 1) 100 grams of carb total. Up from 50. Reason: I am doing a microbiome experiment that will include some prebiotics and resistant starch along with probiotic foods and a supplement. A few things I have been reading lately lead me to this plan, "Brain Maker" and "The 4 Hour Body" 2), 3) & 4) The…

I ordered sodium chloride pills from the internet. They have 1000mg of sodium each. I supplement with 2 daily on top of adding salt to food. It is just an easier, measured way to get it in.

November goals: 1) 50 grams of carb or below 2) Exercise 3x / week 3) No sugar or sugar substitutes 4) Log food daily 5) Check in here on Mondays. Current Weight 255

I eat a measured ounce of nuts daily and never seem to want more than that. Nut butters on the other hand can easily get out of control.

I was 30 pounds lighter a year ago and 45 pounds lighter 6 months before that. I have learned this year that no matter how wonderful the way of eating, the eating disorder can still win and destroy all of your hard work. If I ever get back to my low weight, you will not hear me say "Never Again". I have fought a monster…

Yes, Hurray for chiropractors. Mine turned me on to Paleo. I am going to let someone else start the October chat. Have a great month.

Thanks mallowbar, my own RN at home said exactly the same thing. He always sends me to bed with 800mg. Welcome leighn62. Yesterday my chiro actually made some progress. I am going back on Friday.
